I agree that when i think of Grease i think of Rock n' Roll. I think of all the kewl things they had back in the 50's. Like MoltShops and poodle skirts and how the guys actually danced .... I think of the kewl songs ... like Jailhouse Rock. But i also think how i would have loved to have lived in that time.... For me Grease will forever be Rock n' Roll is here to stay it will never die!!!!! My favorite song and the one that i think everyone knows is You're the one that i want... i dont think i know one person that has not heard of that song and doesnt know a single word... that and the song Grease Lightning... everyone can dance to that. So keep on dancing everyone!!!! (hand jive !!!)
The 50's was a fantiastic time to be a teenager... probably one of the reasons I like Grease is because it reminds me of all the fun I had wearing a poodle skirt and saddle shoes (yes I did !!) and riding in '57 Chevy's. Aside from the fact that Max is super-talented and grew up in the same Phoenix neighborhood I live in (Ahwatukee), I think he is a better "fit" for a 50's Danny than Austin--our "greasers" just weren't the really conventional good-looking ones... they were a bit rough; the conventionly good looking guys were the jocks.
Take it from someone who rock ' rolled herself silly in the 50's... when it comes to looks, Max is more the Elvis type, right down to the sometimes crooked smile, and Austin is more the Pat Boone type.
Absolutely true. The greasers were kind of cool Elvis wannabes - the rebels -- while most of the clean cut types were the jocks. Of course, I preferred the greasers. I remember trying to see how many net petticoats I could get under my skirt so it would really stand out... and the more colors the better! It seemed to be a contest at the time... and I really didn't need bigger hips than I already had! So grease equals cool memories!
Grannygreaser... sounds like you and I were two of a kind in the 50's. I think I had every picture of Elvis I could find plastered around my room, and I had every record he ever made--and my boyfriend usually rode a motorcycle (sort of like the Fonz). I seem to remember getting 7 crinoline petticoats on under my skirt once or twice--but that was for special occasions only. On school days I only wore 2 or 3, and even those were hard to cram into a gym locker!!
