Happens all the time with people who make money doing this.  They aren't fans most of the time; just people who go and get autographs and sell them.

I don't have much of a problem with it usually, and it doesn't irk me too much here...except for the fact that the crowd is so large and they go and get items autographed just so they can earn a dollar. I understand it and all, and in the end it is a good idea because someone like me is going to buy that when they can't see paticular cast members or something. But still...it's a large crowd still, from what I understand. I get to see the show Saturday! I'm excited!

i'm back and forth with this. I got my playbill autographed and would never sell it, but if I get the chance to go back, (which is in the works!) and got another one signed, then i might consider putting it up for sale. I agree with Broadway Dream that it is nice for someone who is really into it but can't make it to NY to see it. But those who go strictly for that purpose and probably never even went to the show? Extremely tacky. I met someone at the Songwriter's Hall of Fame last year who did that...and it was just annoying that a lot of people weren't able to get autographs and he got like 80 things signed...not very cool....but most of the time celebrities know who those people are and try to avoid signing their stuff anyway.
