Cheap and Discounted Tickets to Broadway Shows (Other than Grease)
Permalink Closed

Pfft...who cares about anything other than Grease, right?

Wrong!

I've noticed a few threads asking about cheap tickets and other discounts to Broadway shows...In one of them, NYC9758 posted a very helpful link:

http://www.tdf.org/TDF_ServicePage.aspx?id=56

That provides a general list of what's on the TKTS booth - the cheap tickets booth - located in the wind-tunnel that connects 45th and 46th Streets, under the Mariott-Marquis Hotel.

A list of shows and their discounts, updated daily, can be found here:

For you folks with a student ID card and a great deal of patience, you may wish to try Student Rush.  Just show up at the box office when it opens, student ID in hand, and you can get up to 2 tickets (usually the front row) for selected shows at $26.25 a piece.  Other shows have a lottery for tickets - show up at the box office at a selected time, fill out a card, they put it in a bingo machine and draw names.  Who knows?  You may win a front row seat for $26.25.

Just realize that for the popular shows, you have to get there EARLY.  And by early, I mean 7 AM for Spring Awakening and Legally Blonde.

Other shows have Standing Room Only - sold when the show is sold out, or on a case by case basis.  You stand through the show, in the row behind the last row of orchestra (main floor) seats.

All that info can be found here:

Hope that answers ALL questions.

Smart man, posting it bright and clear in its own thread ;) Happy cheap-theater-hopping everyone!

P.S. any idea when the newfangled booth is opening back up on the traffic island? Seems like it's been under construction forever...bit of an eyesore, even for the chaos of Times Square!

The booth in Father Duffy Square is set to open in December, 2006.

Yeah, you read that correctly.

Now I've heard that it'll be done by the end of this year, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I've been away for the last few weeks, so I haven't seen any progress.

I'll just say this - the one under the Marquis is so efficient that they should just leave it there. 12 windows, line time average of 15 minutes...as opposed to 4 windows, line time average 2 hours.
