Im not fortunate enough to get a ticket to see this possibly wonderful show, but I was wondering if anyone knew if an original broadway recording soundtrack is expected to be released sometime soon?
YES. The "New Cast Recording", with the photo of Max and Laura on the cover, will be released on Oct. 2.
It has already been discounted to $13.99 at amazon.com, where you can pre-order it, or you can get it at your local store starting Oct. 2 (and save the s/h charge).
The songs are great in the theater, and they should be the same or close on the recording.
I wish they re-recorded some of the songs not on the Broadway revival.
When I did Grease in high school last year, it was so fun, but we had to use the original songs (no You're The One That I Want, Sandy, Hopelessly Devoted To You, or Grease).
Hey I was just on Amazon and I was going to preorder it. I just noticed they have a great video posted about the recording sessions. It's almost five minutes long and it includes a lot of Max and Laura. They all sound awesome! I can't wait to get a copy!
Slackerbacker, Thanks so much for posting this link! I loved that video!! Everytime I hear Laura sing HDTY I get the teary eye thing, so amazing, I loved the casts commentary on M&L. Max was amazing as always......thanks again!
Yes, thanks a bunch, Slackerbacker. I got on here, thinking I'd rush on and rush off (things to do) and I found your link and watched the dang thing five or six times, myself. Whoosh, there went my productive morning.
Just kidding. I love the video. I already bought the CD. Now I have to bookmark the page so I can kill even more time.
OH MY GOSH---I LOVED that, thank you so much!!!!!!! Laura's voice just brings tears to my ears, it's so pure and pretty. I'm counting down the day's until the album is out . Oooooh, I loved watching that, think I'll go hit replay Dana
Ha ha ha ha ha, I just reread what I wrote, and obviously I meant to say "eyes", duh. I guess watching that video did some weird things to me, hee hee. I NEED to see this show again, it's soooo addicting!!!!!!!
The link worked for me a moment ago. Don't know what happened earlier, FonZuko. It's still great -- of course I had to watch it all the way through. Twice.
You know, I just love reading all the comments of the rest of you wanting to watch things over and over again too! Of course, as Laura's Mom, I KNOW I'm obsessed with her, but it's fun to know you all are too! When the musical director Kathy Grigsby says her line about Laura being a little shy at first and then says of her during the first rehearsal: "Oh, there she is...she's a superstar!" you don't know how well I can picture that! Just like on the Grease show--Laura IS a little shy and certainly humble entering new things. But as she feels her way and begins to "awaken" you can't believe what you're seeing. I have very honestly had many of the exact moments like Grisgby's saying, "Oh, there she is...!" On the Grease show it happened the week of "Jesus Christ, Superstar." David Ian's famous words, "Wow! Up 'til now I really hadn't noticed you much, to be honest. Tonight, you blew my socks off!" What a Laura trademark!
Laura's Mom, You have every reason to be a proud parent. Laura is a lovely person with a special gift, her magnificient, angelic voice (as well as other stellar attributes), that brings joy and happiness to others. I am especially impressed about the fact that she holds steadfast to strong values (Max too) and that the two of them have "made it" in this highly competitive, often not too kind business. The fact that they are close friends and able to share their common experience from the beginning lends continuity to their current success. It is good to know they are close friends and support each other.
Everything I've seen of Laura and Max has only supported my admiration of them. Jane, I don't know how you or Rachel can sit through a show without crying! (Said because whenever my kids take the stage to receive an award, I bawl my eyes out.)
Laura will be home for the Minneapolis Ivy Awards (our equivalent of the Tony Awards) on Monday and although the visit will be very short it will be magnificent to have her home a few hours! Don't worry anyone, she won't miss any Broadway shows--she'll be back in New York by Tuesday evening. If I didn't respect how very much she must take care of herself, I'd beg her to stay up all night with me and talk. How I miss my daughter!
What's our countdown now? Eight more days until it is released! We will definitely need to start a thread about it. Until then, I will be watching the amazon video for the umpteenth time!
Do you think anybody knows how to put that video on youtube so we have it forever?
I have never really paid that much attention to what goes on when an album is released. Now, I'm paying attention!! Will they have a cast party (with a photographer present, I hope), what will they do on the day its released?
They may have it in the record shops around the City a few days before the release. The theater is bound to have it a day or two before (they generally ship albums to the theater as soon as they're done at the printer.) Virgin Records and Colony Records (on 49th and Bway) could, as well.
HAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's so cool, please, please, please take LOTS of photos, please
You got it, Maria! I'm going to try and get a pic of Max and Laura and whoever else I can and say it's for the Grease on Broadway forum hehe. I'll try my best. Any specific people you want me to try and get pics of (other than Max and Laura obviously lol). Anyway, you guys can let me know and I'll do my best!
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!, please try to do soooo many, thanks seriusly, we were having problems with that does anyone know If broadway world will do a photo coverage about this?
I'm wondering if they'll let me get two CDs signed (especially since neither one was bought there). I'm getting one for Andy for her birthday but I also want to get one signed for my younger sister for her birthday.

I luckily was able to order mine off of Rhapsody for $11.99 and it came w/ a "Greased Lightnin" karaoke track! :) I have only heard tracks #1-3 and I am in the middle of "Those Magic Changes".
