Every year at this time, the Broadway community, and theatrical communities across the country, get together to support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. They do this by collecting money following the performances, in exchange for signed Playbills, posters, and other goodies. At the end of the fundraising period, they all get together and do a performance called Gypsy of the Year. This year, it'll take place at the Neil Simon Theatre on December 3 and 4.
Because of the strike, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is losing upwards of $400,000/wk.
However, they've started an internet campaign. You can now donate what you'd plan to donate to your favorite show courtesy of the BC/EFA website. I figured since this is a Grease forum, I'd give you the link to the Grease donation page. While you can't get a signed program, you will receive a Broadway marquee mousepad for every donation over $100.
If only 25% of the people registered on this board would donate $10 each, we could easily make the $2500 target goal for Grease and show our support for the entire cast of Grease and their fabulously fun show.
