Just got the cast recording & LOVED it!! The only thing that I did not like was that they cleaned up Greased Lightnin'. I have a few questions for people who have seen the play. 1: WHY dose Rizzo say "bad boy" during Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee? 2: Dose Sandy give Patty a black eye at the end? 3: In the original play on It's Raining On Prom Night Sandy sings along with the raido voiced by Cha-Cha in this production Jan sings it with her. Why is Jan singing it?  4(last): How dirty is this production?? Do they flip the bird, say the F word like in the original??

Ah, a fan of the original, original Grease production. A person after me own heart.

1. Just patter added to the song.
2. More than less. She does punch her out.
3. One of the contrivances they've added was that Jan won a singing contest and gets to sing the song at the dance. It gives the character of Jan a song, which she doesn't have in the original script.
4. No cursing. The show has been incredibly sanitized since the 1970s. Take, for example, the line "Hey, what's for lunch? Chipped beef on toast, better known as Sh*t on a shingle." The version licensed now is "better known as barf on a bun." The only version available to be licensed NOW is this sanitized version. And then there's a further sanitized version available to schools and other community groups that cuts the plot of Rizzo's possible pregnancy.

That really SUCKS that they made it almost squeaky clean. I have a copy of the original 1972 screenplay & it is FANTASTIC!! I like it better than the movie. Part of the reason I love it so much is all the naughty stuff that is in it. Thank you for answering my questions. :D

I don't know but I would not have gone or taken my two teen girls if it was as raunchy as people say it was.

It was the language that made the script naughty. The show itself was the same, overall.

Imagine every "crap" as sh*t; every "screw it" or "hell" as "f*ck."

There is scenes of the Pink Ladies "flipping the bird" in it also. You could NOT take any kids to this production. There is a scene of Danny pinching Marty's boobs! Here is a link to pictures of the ORIGINAL cast. One of the pics is Danny behind Rizzo with his hands on her boobs!!

'greased lightening' gets raunchier than that. one line that i know they changed was calling the car a 'draggin' wagon'. am i right, mrE1111?

i don't want to post the lyrics since there might be some kids who look at the board and there aren't really place-holders that would be clear enough to adults and not offend the kids.

We were all so used to watching the TV program that was completely cleaned up that when Jack saw the show on Broadway, he thought they got their lines wrong because they might be nervous to be in a broadway show.

Yep, the p-word, like in the movie. And a bunch of others...(sh*t, tit, 'get off my rocks,' 'chicks'll *ream (rhymes with scream)). Etc.
