Laura will be home in MInnesota for one day on Monday, Feb. 25, to give a small interactive concert at Ashland Productions in the Maplewood Community Center in Maplewood. Laura performed for this small professional company once while in high school and they are bringing her home to perform an evening concert and interact with the audience about her Broadway experience. This theatre does a lot of work with children and the children will also be singing a couple numbers and will have an opportunity to ask Laura some questions about her developing career. For any of you in this part of the country, tickets will be $35.00 and can be purchased by calling 651-274-8020. The theatre only seats about 300 people so tickets are expected to go fast. She will fly back to New York on Tuesday morning--thus not missing any "Grease" shows (if I don't kidnap her!). If some of you are there, maybe you can introduce yourself to me!
How exciting is this! I just bought my ticket, yay!!!!!!! I can't even wait, Laura just has the voice of an angel, and I am SO happy to get to hear her in person again!!!!!! Hurry up February 25th :)
Hello Jane :) Yes, this is SO exciting----I can't wait to come!!!!!! As you can see, I am looking forward to it; hope to see you there too! Take care and stay warm this weekend Dana
your daughter is one busy girl. Between this, her Broadway committments and appearances all over NYC, when does she ever get down time?

They say that I won't last too long on Broadway I'll catch a Greyhound bus for home, they all say But they're dead wrong, I know they are 'Cause I can play this here guitar And I won't quit till I'm a star on Broadway
Well, this is only her second one-day visit home, so she certainly doesn't get to get home. She is a busy girl but she does have some daytime time to rest and hang out with Nate--if they're not auditioning or doing any other publicity type of things. She feels her life is much more settled into a routine now than it was the first several months. And with the colder weather and the slower winter Broadway season in general, things aren't so demanding at the stage door either. Everytime I talk to her she is still completely loving what she's doing. That's always great to hear!
That concert was completely AWESOME. Thanks Jane for the invite. Would absolutely do it again. If something like this comes up again, please let us know. It was a pleasure to meet all of your family and friends along with Dana and her sister. It was truely worth the drive (ride). Please wish Nate good luck.
Hi Mike! (and Nancy!) I absolutely agree: my sister and I had the best time. It was so fun meeting and chatting with everyone!! Laura was just utterly beautiful, poised and that gorgeous voice is just in a league of it's own :) I loved every song she sang, and was just so happy and thankful to be there last night! Getting to meet her after the show was just the icing on the cake-----Laura is an example of a true Broadway star, very humble, personable, down to earth and just plain out of this world talented. I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to see her, thanks again Jane for letting us know about this!!!! I second Mike, I would do this again in a heartbeat, what a great evening!!!!!! Have a great day everyone! Dana
Mike and Nancy and Dana, it was truly fun to meet you and chat together last night at the concert. For everyone else's information, Laura's songs were interspersed with some by the youth "company" that have been working out of the theatre location where the concert took place, and also a couple other young local actors. The kids were fun to hear just because they're a group of up and coming young performer-wanna-be's with all that eagerness and enthusiasm. That brought back lots of memories of events Laura participated in growing up. Any of you young people out there, do these kinds of events whenever you get the chance! Even if they're not of the highest caliber of talent, it gives you good stage experience and it's just fun. Laura's songs were really great at the concert. She chose several songs from "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and the one about coming from a small town and living in Manhatten was especially cute and certainly exemplary of her in real life right now. She'd make a great Millie right now! The whole event was pretty informal and fun. Several of us had a chance to chat with Laura afterwards. She was one tired girl at the end of the evening and we decided it's really probably too much to come home for one day--especially after a four show weekend--and especially to have to perform on that one day off. She headed back to New York at 7:00 a.m. this morning. It was great to hug her for a few hours yesterday but I'm a bit of a sad Mommy today. I still sometimes cannot quite believe my girl is on Broadway in New York City. Thanks again to you four who came--especially Mike and Nancy driving so far! Perhaps we'll get together again sometime.
Hi Jane! I just read your post----just think, last night at this time, we were all enjoying that fun concert, I wish I could rewind time, ha ha. It was great hearing your stories of Laura's experiences growing up; it was a great lesson for the kids in that they're not going to get every part they audition for-----actually a great lesson for everyone! We know how sad you must be saying goodbye to Laura after such a short visit :( Hopefully you will be able to see Grease one more time, wish you could come with us May!! Also, hope Nate is having good luck at his audition! Hope you are having a good night, thanks again for last night!!!!! Dana and sister Terri
