I just received this message on myspace and since Pete is a poster here and, once upon a time, on the NBC board I thought I would share it with all of you.

********************************************************
You don't know me, but my husband I are LONG time friends of Peter (it's Peter's fault that we're married - just celebrated our 30th). Peter is our older son's godfather. He asked me to contact his friends on his friends' list on MySpace.

Peter is quite ill and we aren't certain if he will, in fact, recover. He called my husband I last night from the hospital at 11:30 PM CST. Peter has a massive infection which may be affecting his liver. We do not know the prognosis, we do know he's been there for a week and does not sound very good.

He is at Kindred Hospital Northeast - Waltham, Rm 413, 9 Hope Avenue, Waltham, MA 02453. Kindred Hospital is a Long Term Acute Care facility.

My husband, who is an attorney, has spoken to Peter twice today. We just don't know....

I spoke to Pete on the phone not long after I posted this. He cannot walk and his ability to form words is very poor. I couldn't bring myself to ask him to repeat himself every time I couldn't understand what he said.

thanks for the update, I will keep him in my prayers. I looked at his profile on here and it looks like he's only in his early 40s.

Wow, life is so very fragile and you do not have to be older to be vulnerable. I pray for his recovery too.

New message from Peter's friend

********************************************************************************************************

Peter called us tonight and asked me to THANK YOU so VERY MUCH for the floral arrangement. It truly brightened his day.

My husband is talking to him twice a day and said that tonight he sounded better than earlier today, but can tell he is in pain. We both know that one day Peter won't pull through this.

If you are not an organ designee on your license yet, please consider doing that and letting your family know that you wish to be an organ donor, if anything should happen. You might be able to save someone like Peter someday.

When this happened a couple of years ago, I offered to be a partial liver donor, as we are the same blood type, but his doctor said no.

Please keep in touch with me. You are a very kind, loving person to give Peter a little joy that he needs.

Oh, I did. I probably shouldn't have copied the whole message but what's done is done.

I really feel for his daughter right now.  I was in her same shoes when I was 18.  There's really no comparisson for something like this.  Watching someone you always considered to be so "strong" become weaker by the day is the most heartbreaking thing I think anyone can ever go through.

I didn't realize you know him in real life Eris. It is always hard for family members to lose their loved ones. May he therefore, may his life as it is be without pain and may he find peace. My heart goes out to the family.

Eris, you are one of the kindest most considerate people I know. Thank you for letting us know what is going on so that we can continue to keep him in our prayers.

Some people make the transition peacefully and painlessly....some go through a terrible struggle....the rest are somewhere in between.
What does it all mean?

The latest from his friend:

******************************************************************************************************

My husband is on the phone with Peter right now. Jim says he sounds so much better, so maybe he'll pull through this again. This isn't the first time this has happened, so we have our fingers crossed.

I just talked to him too and he sounds much better than when he called on Sunday night/Monday morning....

I'm so glad. I know these times aren't easy on a family, but when someone pulls through it does feel like such a gift. Hope to 'hear' from Zeus again on this board.

Eris, if you talk to the family again, tell them that many people from the Grease boards have had him and his family in their thoughts. Thank you.

The latest:

********************************************************************

My husband talked to Peter yesterday and is sounding a bit stronger. Jim just said that Peter sounded really good today, so what ever his getting for meds seems to be working. And I think it's a good sign that Peter isn't calling us twice a day, which he was doing at the beginning of the week.
*********************************************************************

I also spoke to Peter today myself.  He still sounds a little bit like one of Charlie Brown's teachers.  He's still not chasing the nurses and I told him he needs to hurry up and get on that.  The call ended up being dropped and I didn't call him, back.  I figured if he has the energy he would call be back.  He hasn't yet.

Newest info from Peter's friend:

Peter has been transferred to the Lahey Clinic. I spoke to his Dad a few minutes ago. Still don't know if he'll recover or not. His Dad said that Peter was pretty out of it for a few days but seems to be able to talk again. His cell phone was in fact in need of being repaired. It's now fixed and Peter's Mom is taking it to him this afternoon. You might want to try and call him tonight or tomorrow.

The last time this happened he was a Lahey Clinic, so being transferred from a Long Term Acute Care facility might be an improvement but I don't know. I don't know how long someone can live with a failing liver..... His father is not sounding hopeful.

Latest update from Peter's friend:

He's been transferred back to Kindred Care Hospital. He still sounds like he has a mouthful of cotton when he talks. But he did say that the physical therapist is suppose to be seeing him tomorrow and hopefully will start to get him up to walk. I guess he has been bed-bound all this time.

This is to help you be less stressed - we (Jim and I) just talked to Peter! He sounds SO MUCH BETTER!!!! He is walking on his own. PT wanted him to use a walker but he got fed up with it!!!! I told him to go find the solarium - there must be one at Kindred Care.

I don't know you personally, Peter, but I too join in to welcome you back and pray your health keeps getting stronger. Maybe you'll be the one to give us some fun new topics to talk about. We've been a bit boring lately!

New info from Peter's friend Dawn:

I don't know if you've talked to Peter since Friday, but he landed back in the hospital again (they did discharge him, but he felt they discharged him too soon, even though he was medically able to be discharged, according to his doctor). Peter feels that he needs to be sent to a more intensive rehabilitation facility as what they have a Kindred really wasn't enough to get him back on his feet. He is suppose to be having a meeting with his doctor, the patient advocate, etc. today to determine when he might be able to be transferred. I told him that it may be a matter of having a bed available. His Mom made him his favorite Greek Lemon Chicken Soup and took it to him at the hospital.
