Having been so lucky to receive kind good wishes and prayers from many of you, it is now my turn to ask you to pray for our friend Eris, who is a major contributor on this board. Her grandfather has had a stroke and is not expected to survive.
Please keep her in your payers and keep a good thought for her. If you get a chance, send your kind words along to her in a private message.
Eris has done so much for me these past 10 weeks. She sent me flowers in the hospital, sent me a box filled with books to read, soduko puzzles, funny get well cards and called me to see how I was.
Many of you may not know this, but it was she who coordinated the effort to surprise Ashley Spencer during the "Grease.. YTOTIW" television taping by collecting funds from the show's message board members to send Ashley's sister to California to surprise Ashley.
Let's all rally for our friend Eris (real name Kristin) and let her know she is in our thoughts and prayers.
I know that you wonderful folks will answer the call. Thank you, my friends.
Peter

You are one of my best friends, and I know you know my thoughts are with you. I'm sure you don't need me posting on some message board to know how much I love you. Ok, stopping now before I get too mushy or say something weird like "sending you a Derek hug" or something.
All my prayers are for you and family... I lost my grandmother last october.. Please cherish all those moment with your grandfather they are priceless....
I haven't really been checking the board much lately so you'll have to excuse my lack of replies.
Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts, messages, and prayers. They are very much appreciated.
The saying "when it rains it pours" seems to have a lot of weight around here lately. First the company I work for declared bankruptcy and now this. I think I'm going to need a bigger plater because this one is getting pretty full.
My grandfather was moved from a hospital in Paoli, Pennsylvania to a hospice in West Chester, PA. If you guys have any experiences with hospices then you'll know that it's in the agreement you sign that they will not do anything "extra" to keep him alive - which includes giving him feedings and fluids. Without these he's not expected to last the week.
I lost my father to cancer back in 1997 so this road is very familiar for us. My mother is very upset not only because of what's going on but because she has no say in what happens. This is my father's father and my mother's opinion has no weight. Though, I think they should listen to her. First because she has experience with this and secondly because she's a former nurse.
When my father was put into hospice she demanded they take the clause about no feedings or fluids out of the contract. And they did. My father's family could certainly do the same but since they don't want to listen to my mother it didn't happen.
Also, many of us suspect that my grandmother won't survive long after he's gone. She's healthy for a 90 year old woman but they've been married for more than 60 years and have been together more than 70. It's very common for one to follow the other in matters such as this. Once the day to day routine of visiting my grandfather is done and she has nothing to do we wonder what will happen. She has a very large family to fall back on but it's not the same as having her husband there.
Again, thank you for all your messages and comments here. I wish the tidings were better and we were celebrating something.

Kristen So sorry to hear about your grandfather. I pray that God will give you grace and peace in the midst of a very difficult time. I lost my father to cancer in 1995 and it was so hard to hear my mother say that there could be no heroics. I will pray for you.
I just wanted to let you guys know that my grandfather died yesterday morning. On Monday I'm driving to Bryn Mawr, PA with my mother, brothers, and sister for the funeral.
