I got a notice a couple of days ago from SHN in San Francisco for their next season Broadway package that includes "Grease". The clip with it includes many scenes, although nothing that we haven't seen before, from Broadway production, but also an interview with Kathleen Marshall and a bit from Jenny Powers and Kirsten Wyatt.
It brings up an interesting question since Kathleen is listed as the director/choreographer - is this likely to be a separate deal for Kathleen since she would need to work with a whole new cast?
Unless it's a non-Equity tour, the original director of a production going on tour always deals with the production. It's the same thing when the show goes to London.
On an non-Equity tour, it's usually "based on the staging by..." , directed now by....
My question was is this normally the part of the deal when a director agrees to do a Broadway show or is this settled after? From what you're saying, it sounds like it is agreed upfront and is expected.
Is there somewhere that the touring schedule for Grease would be posted ? I'd love to take my kids to see it if it came anywhere near me.
I would expect that sooner or later, the producers would either add it to this site or start a new site with touring information. Right now, it is coming up in various Broadway season packages as the tours are put together for 2008/2009. It isn't in the package for Reno next year, but may be in the following season.
