Happy 4th Of July!
Permalink Closed

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday. I think this video is perfect for Independence Day. It's from the movie YANKEE DOODLE DANDY. I rarely watch movies, because I can't sit through them. This one is an exception. I adore Cagney and I LOVE this movie. This clip contains the song Yankee Doodle Dandy and a little of Give My Regards To Broadway.

Enjoy!

Hs5sunny posted this on another board! Sunny, I hope you don't mind my posting it here, too. Most of us know about Taylor's charity work. Even when he was a broke musician, he supported KidOne. Check out this story.....

Of COURSE I don't mind, Aragall; please feel free to carry anything I post elsewhere over here if you want to biggrin

This is so exciting about Russell Jackson being picked; I hope Kid One gets tons of donations because of this! smile

Thanks Aragall for the clip of Yankie Doodle Dandy. I love that movie but have not seen it in years. Although I have seen it several times I would love to see it again.

Hope everyone has a great and safe 4th and happy Taylor watching.

Taylor did great, but the hostess was awkward..."That wasn't too bad"...Oh, really?!

Even with the terrible sound on the clip, I was going nuts over "Dancing...", one of the greatest songs of all time, with the National Symphony Orchestra behind him, Taylor will rock the country.

I think she was directing her comment to the co-anchor, not Taylor.  I took it as a comment to his singing and then critique by Taylor.  I'm so excited, I'm antsy waiting for tonight. biggrin

Yes, on second thought...she was probably commenting on the technical aspect of remote interviewing. She was still awkward and embarrassing. It doesn't matter...hardly anybody watches CNN...not like tonight, when EVERYBODY will be watching!!!!

Well, I hope "everybody" was watching. Jimmy Smitts gave Grease a mention, and then Taylor came out and nailed it to the wall!!!!

Yes, he did!!! It was a great show all around. Brian Stokes Mitchell brought me to tears twice. My Huey Lewis flame has been rekindled, smile.gif though Taylor is still THE MAN in his black leather!! biggrin.gif And Jerry Lee Lewis....God love him. When I saw him perform on the Grammy Awards, he looked to be at death's door. He rocked the house tonight. I would like to be Harolyn Blackwell. She is so lovely and gifted. Haley Westenra....she blows me away...and so young. The show is being re-broadcast at 11:00 in my area. I'll be watching again.

I just love it, too. And Cagney is ......well, he's Cagney. That's about the highest praise I can give him. Perfection. The dancing is so cool! I'm really suprised that it isn't shown every 4th of July.

Taydaze thank you . I got that link to work. It wouldn't let me post it for some reason.

Aragall I'm not getting yours to work either. Thanks for trying to post it. Maybe it works for someone else and it's just my computer. Not sure. weirdface.gif

Thanks for the links, both of them worked for me.  I watched the performance twice on television tonight, back-to-back, and now refreshed my memory by watching two more times.  aww

I just LOVED, LOVED, LOVED his performance!!! clap.gif  And I thought it was terrific that Jimmy mentioned he's in Grease; hopefully that will help sell some tickets!!! smile

Here's a Washington Post article on the show with a quick mention of Taylor:

Soprano Harolyn Blackwell, a D.C. native, opened the concert with "The Star-Spangled Banner," and American Idol winner Taylor Hicks electrified the crowd with a jazzed-up rendition of "This Land Is Your Land."

He's ELECTRIFYIN'!! sHa_hehe.gif
