Come back and see us! There is nothing like NYC at anytime of year. So much to see and do. I do love my city!
I used to go visit my cousin who lives in Brooklyn, but she isn't speaking to me right now (long story), so that's why I haven't been. I have a friend in Staten Island though and we have discussed doing a girls' weekend at her house.
I would love to live in New York! Do you live in Manhattan?
No, I live in Queens born and bred there. Long stories about families are a dime a dozen, which of my dozen would you like? Staten Island, that's still part of NYC? lol.
I can go to see a show anytime I have both the inclination and the money. I frequently have the inclination, now about the money...
I don't live in the city and I'm not 100% sure I'd want to. I'm not a "city gal". My younger brother lives in Weehawken, NJ (upstate - 20 mins from NYC) and my older brother lives in Woodside (part of Queens). But I love where I live. I live outside of Trenton and I can take the train to NYC in about an hour, drive to Philadelphia in 45 mins to an hour, and drive to Baltimore in 2 and a half to three hours.

I work about a mile away from Woodside and lived there for 3 years when I was in my teens. I also lived in Great Neck as a child, but the majority of my life has been in Queens within a 5 mile radius of where I am sitting right now.
I always think I have the best of all worlds. My neighborhood, Fresh Meadows, is mostly one family houses, well kept, on tree lined streets. The apartments in the area are the historical Fresh Meadows complex. There is shopping within walking distance, but I can get in my car and if there is no traffic, be in Manhattan in 20 minutes, or take a bus to the subway or an express bus to the city.
I have always said that living in the city on a "trial" basis would be fun. I don't think I could live there forever, but I would love to try it out! I think cost of living would win that battle first!
Ohhhh Dana, I now so wish that my wife and I would have made the trip. I would have loved to see you and your sister again.
Hope you both have a wonderful time, get lots of pics and PLEASE share when you get the time. You know like around midnight on sunday night would be just fine......I think I can wait that long. TAKE CARE!!!!!

I guess if you want to live in Manhattan, you wouldn't be able to survive for long, but in the other boroughs, there are lots of us middle class people surviving fairly well. The hardest nut to crack here is housing, but there are other cities that have the same issue.
My Mom grew up in Brooklyn,I used to love our visits there. My brother lived on the East Side of Manhattan for about five years He and his wife loved it because of the access to everything day and night. Two of my nephews lived in the city for a while too, they both work there. It's definitely a fascinating place to live.
I'd have to be loaded to enjoy living in Manhattan, but if I were loaded I think I'd like it.
I'm not sure if Staten Island is technically a part of the city or not......I just know she goes into Manhattan alot and if we were to go stay with her we'd probably go to some shows....
Manhattan, which everyone calls the city (even those of us who live here!), the Bronx, the only borough that on the mainland of the US, Brooklyn, also known as Kings, Queens, which has no other name and Staten Island which is also known as Richmond, make up the five boroughs of NYC.
Brooklyn and Queens are on Long Island, although we call the other two counties "Long Island" even though there are four counties on Long Island and two of them. Brooklyn and Queens are part of New York City.
2 Million? Don't think you would get anything much on 5th Avenue which overlooks the park. The prices in Manhattan for a coop are astronomical. I think maybe you could a small 1 bedroom if you want to be by the park.
I thought the one hotel, no longer a hotel, that is overlooking the south-east entrance of the park was going for 1.5 million. That would be plenty big. Unless you were thinking bigger. Then it would have to take a couple cracks at the lottery.
Either way, let me know when it happens. Sharing is caring. Its a good thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Plaza? I quote an article from Money Magazine:
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - The first condos have gone on sale in one of the most storied of New York hotels, the Plaza, and they're anything but cheap.
Prices start at $2 million for an 1,100-square-foot one-bedroom condominium -- and that's for one that doesn't have views of Central Park -- and max out at $32.5 million for the penthouse, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.
Some of the apartments were featured on a local real estate program here. The apartments are quite spectacular. Remember, this is sale price and does not include maintaince, which I imagine is thousands a month.
My mother always said, "Rich or poor, it's nice to have money."
"When I become rich, I will let you know if I can agree with her." LOL
I guess I should have taken it when it was offered at 1.5 mil. Could have made a little money on the deal. Real estate. Thats where the money is. And yes, the Plaza. That was the place.

Hi there Mike! Awww thanks for the good wishes, it was really fun meeting you and your wife too :) I'm sure we'll have a great time---we were just in NY not two weeks ago, but it'll still be fun to be there again :) I will take alot of pictures, but I don't really know how to upload them on here; I will try and figure that out....anyway, it's sure to be a fun time, wish you were going!! Hope you have a nice day :)
Suffolk and Nassau being the other 2 LI counties, correct?
I used to date a guy who's family lived in Southampton and I spent a summer out there. Talk about nice places to live......
His family was year round though so they just lived in a regular house. LOL!
Correct. Everyone in the here will say they are going to Long Island, even if they live in Brooklyn or Queens. Even a "regular house" out in the Hamptons now is very pricey, although there are lots of people out there who have smaller homes that are "reasonable" for the area.
Thanks, Eris. It would be nice if they made some type of public acknowledgement given the unusual way in which they were selected and how successful they have been.

It's highly unusual for a Broadway show to give "send off" party to cast members, unless they are celebrities.

Right. The cast will probably do something among themselves but as far as the producers go I doubt we'll even hear from them publicly.
Max and Laura may have gotten their roles in a different way but I would imagine they want to be seen as any other member of the Broadway community. So I'd think they'd want to go out just like any other performer.
