I didn't see this posted elsewhere so I thought I'd share. It froze from time to time for me but it was so nice to see! Sadly, my screensaver came up and I was never less happy to see Rhett Butler

It is good to see Danny (Derek) continues the tradition of carrying Sandy (Ashley) off stage at the end. With Laura, it was easier for Max. With taller Ashley, only Danny Derek can do it 8 times per week.
That was great Eris... thank you for posting... but man are they going crazy HARMONICA at the end of the show?... please change is great but not at THAT POINT...

On Tuesday night Derek almost went off stage in the wrong place and had to stop and walk around. You can kind of see it in the video. I was amused

Didn't see this posted. Derek updated his blog. If it already was my apologies. It actually popped up on my news bar when I started my computer. What a way to start the day!

I think it was the perfect spot for the harmonica playing, and the cast seemed to love it too.

Just a (very) quick recap on the show Sunday evening. I didn't get home until last night and I'm so far behind the eight ball here, that it's going to take me a week to get back to normal. I haven't even posted a recap at the Boogie Board yet (so don't squeal on me. LOL!)
I don't know, Nad. You're a tough sell! Don't know if you'll ever "get" Taylor - but it's o.k.! Enough other people are raving about him, so you don't have to follow the crowd. Everyone here will still love you, I'm sure!
I see you have Jose' Restrepo' pic in your avi. So, I'll start with him. He's terrific! What a personality (not just on the stage - but in "real" life!) We had a "talk back" with the cast after the show, and he and Allison Fischer were the first two actors to sit and chat with our group.
As funny as he is in the show (his timing is awesome,) he's a very serious actor and is extremely well spoken. As I said, I was impressed with him both on and off the stage!
When I have more time, I'll try to share some of the content of the "talk back" - but for now, let me just say, that as a die-hard Taylor fan, I was pleased and proud of his performance. Taylor is Taylor, and with or without the harmonica, the man just has what it takes to please a crowd. He has that intangible - what my grandfather used to refer to as duende. He makes people smile. I've said it from the beginning of his Idol days - I never stopped smiling when Taylor was on the screen. Now, having said that, IMO he does a terrific job as Teen Angel. Not just the song - but the way he hams it up and gets into the part. Because he's so obviously enjoying himself, the audience wants to be part of the scene too. They just get caught up in the whole thing. To be honest, when he was in front of us (we were fourth row center - and it was close!) I couldn't take my eyes of the damn suit!! What a hoot seeing him in rhinestones and sporting a pompadour! And the shiny patent leather shoes (boots?) definitely completed the over-the-top outfit. His mannerisms were spot on, and his voice, although IMO glorious, almost became secondary. Let me assure Nad, that the harp doesn't in any manner, shape, or form take away from the story that is "Grease!"
The "kids" in this production are (again, MO) all fabulous! Taylor doesn't even appear until the third scene of the second act, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute leading up to his entrance, as much (well almost) as we did after he appears! LOL! They are all truly talented actors, singers and dancers. They have a great chemistry and are such fun to watch. Their voices were off the wall wonderful. And not just the leads, or the characters that everyone seems to be familiar with like Sonny, Rizzo and Kenickie (who, by the way, was played by the adorable Matthew Hydzik) - but the other cast members, like Will Blum and Lindsay Mendez, were just fantastic!
O.K. this is taking way longer than I anticipated, and I'll have to share some more later. I'll leave it at this. The entire cast is fabulous! I do not understand how the production could have been given such poor reviews if it was even close to what I saw the other night. Taylor is Taylor! He's a born entertainer and he brings a great energy to the show. But, if he were not in the production, it would still be a wonderful show. Honestly! I think what he's done for "Grease" is use his celebrity, talent and undeniable charisma to bring hordes of people to NY to see the show, and by doing that, he's given the entire cast a new visibility (and of course, that's also given Taylor a renewed public awareness.)
So many people, who never would have gone to see the show before he joined the cast, are now enjoying the massive talent on that stage every night. The other actors are definitely reaping the benefits of performing with TH. They have an enthusiastic, appreciative, high-energy audience at every show. Their names are getting out there and they're being noticed as the talented actors they are. Also, the fact that they like Taylor, and the respect that he has for them, was very apparent during the "talk back." It's all good! (And Nad - I didn't even mention the great fun that they all have when he plays the harp!)
ETA: I'm sorry, but I had to run back and just say that Derek and Ashley look stunning together! When Derek came out to do the talk back, the guy who was "running" the session, said (as he said to each of them as they drifted in) "Now, say your real name and who you play in the show." This, of course, got a ton of laughs, because every last one of us knew exactly who he was! He has a very nice way about him. He (they all) sat on the floor and just talked like they were with a bunch of friends. But Derek is so handsome that it's hard not to stare at him. Personally, I couldn't believe that I'd take my eyes off Taylor and concentrate on Derek when he was speaking, but I did. (And Taylor was listening so intently to what Derek (and all of them) had to say, that it really was just like a great conversation.) I loved that!
Those Q & A sessions are really wonderful. Nice of the cast to do it (think it voluntary!) and people really appreciate know more about them and the show.
