Now, don't get too excited, but since I DO live near a Target, well actually, who doesn't? I just may have to see if I can purchase an album.

Still not Soul Patrol, but warming up!

D&B -

I have to say how proud I was to be in the SP the other night. Just to quell anyone's fears (LOL!) we were all totally well behaved! Enthusiastic, yes, but well within theater etiquette guidelines! They, and the rest of the audience, cheered and applauded all the actors from the time the curtain rose until the curtain call ended.

I would say that the period when the ice cream cone was just hanging there waiting for the BSD scene, was probably the time that I was the most aware of the large number of SP in the audience. We were collectively holding our breath, as we tried desperately to keep our minds on the show and not stare at that cone! When it finally made it to the floor and he made it out safely (LOL) there was certainly some wild clapping and loud cheering, but nothing too drastic or over the top (at least in MHO.)

When I was really proud, though, of the SP'ers, was at the NESP "talk back" after the show. (Allison Fischer and Jose' Restrepo were out a few minutes before Taylor, and they were greeted warmly.) I feel pretty certain that although everyone was interested in what the others had to say, they would have rather addressed all of their questions to Taylor when he made it out to the stage. But they didn't. They asked thoughtful, intelligent questions of the others, and made a point to let them know if they had seen them in any other shows, or knew anything about their backgrounds. (It was also difficult not to just stare at TH as he listened and concentrated on their answers, but the group managed to act like they weren't even noticing him! That was a great acting job by NESP, if you ask me!) There was a lot of interaction between the cast as they sat on the floor like a bunch of little kids.)

When Taylor got called out to do a private M&G, he said good bye and of course, gave a Soul Patrol shout out. I was afraid that that might be the end of the "talk back" because people would want to get outside and wait at the stage door to see him again. But no one even moved, or gave any indication that their main reason for being there had just walked off the stage! They asked a few more "good" questions, and spent an appropriate amount of time chatting. No one stormed the exits or acted anxious to leave! LOL! It was very nice!

D&B, I'm so glad to hear you're planning to get Early Works! I hope you enjoy his original music as much as we do! smile

Azure, sounds like a wonderful time was had by all, SWEET! smile

Regarding the NESP, I got to see Taylor when I was on a visit to Massachusetts; he just happened to be performing in Concord, NH while I was back there.  Before the show we went to a Chinese restaurant across from the venue and amazingly were sat down in a booth right behind Taylor and a couple of the road crew (and Loren and Felix were at the table next to them along with some more crew)!  We were very polite and didn't bother them, though my Mom did manage to get her "Heart Full of Soul" book signed when Taylor actually spoke to us first clap.gif  Taylor left first, then one of the guys he had been sitting with got up to leave and asked if we were New England Soul Patrol....I laughed and said, "No, actually I'm Arizona division" biggrin

I am very very excited about Taylor being exclusive to Target. Walmart did him NO good...at the two Walmart stores near me...neither even had a name plate for him...and ran out of CDs and never reordered. Sorry...but, Target is classier...and has a fantastic marketing team. Something that Taylor has been missing out on since his win of AI. This was about the best news I have had in a long long time. So proud of his intelligent choices...and his willingness and perserverence to "get her done"...HAHA!

I am also happy about the exclusive Target distribution, and I'm pleased to hear that the songs have been remastered for the CD! smile

Wow! It's so quiet here - unlike all the other TH sites - where everyone is so hyped about EW being exclusive to Target, and where there's so much speculation about whether the "big announcement" is the reason for this three-day business trip. (M&G's after Thursday's show were cut very short because he had to leave for the airport 30 minutes after the show ended.) Is he filming a commercial for Target this weekend? Is he signing with a new label? Don't know - but speculation runs rampant! Although it's not quite the same as speculating about whether or not the "Grease" pompadour was his real hair or a wig! LOL!

Anybody know who filled in as Teen Angel last night and the rest of the weekend? Since this time off was requested so long ago, it appears any SP'ers who had tickets, were able to exchange them for another date. (Don't see anybody whining about it, so that's good.) Someone at the Boogie is trying to sell a ticket for the August 5th show because of a business crisis. Sounds like a really good seat - Row AAA. She paid $251.50! Yikes! But she's willing to take offers! Maybe some local fan can pick up a great deal!

It IS very quiet in here compared to elsewhere, I think it's because Grease-wise there's not much new to report....but just wait a couple of weeks, you won't be able to shut us up!! biggrin

I have no idea who filled in as Teen Angel, and I'm antsy to hear Taylor's big announcement too!! smile

Josh Franklin is listed as a Teen Angel cover. Not positive that is who did it, since they do change covers and add to some others at times.

AAA is the second row orchestra. She probably paid premium prices. She should try stubhub.com to sell them.

For those of us who live DOWN IN THE BOONDOCKS, it will be quite a long haul, but it looks like that's what I will have to do. What I do for that Taylor Hicks man!!! (Not nearly as much as he does for me! biggrin.gif )

Now, I get to play a Joe South video! It's always a good time for Joe! biggrin.gif

The Boogie got a "scoop" and has pictures of the Target Ad that will be published next. I tried to bring the pics over here, but of course, it didn't work. (I am so lame when it comes to this stuff!)

Anyway, here's the link to the Boogie Board front page. Go to News Section. The Target Ad has its own thread.

Hopefully it's just a matter of time before Target is offering it online, there are quite a few Taylor fans that don't have a Target nearby! smile  Luckily there are just as many Taylor fans willing to purchase a copy for someone and mail it smile

Thanks Azure and BBS for the circular scoop, I usually don't look through ads, but I'll be taking a peek at the Target one this week! biggrin

BBS, Rylen is a cutie-pie!! biggrin

A very nicely written review on Taylor's "Early Works" CD:

http://blogcritics.org/archives/2008/08/14/122115.php

I appreciate the comment about "Tighten Up". Taylor is a fantastic bandleader and loves to showcase his musicians and take the spotlight off of himself!!!

Woo! Hoo!

If you don't have it...go to Target, and BUY it!!!!   biggrin.gif

Got Mine! I listened to it on the way to work and then from work to home. I picked one up for my friend in Canada because they don't have Target. Poor thing thought she wasn't going to get a first released copy. She received it yesterday.

Taylor should hire PTD to do his promo work. I just came upon this and several other videos she made to promote the Early Works album. Great, as usual! biggrin.gif

You took the words right out of my mouth on both songs! I love all the songs on the album but you picked my two favorites.

Has anyone heard whether Taylor will release any singles from this album or do any promotions? I truly hope he does since the timing is good. He has been getting favorable press from Grease and he could promote his upcoming new CD (and, maybe -- just maybe -- Whomp At The Warfield). Just wondering and hoping.
