I don't know if this is a fair poll. It's hard to say which is "better" when each is performed so differently.

Until you see Ashley and Derek sing at the Brooks Atkinson you really can't answer the question, you saw Laura and Max.

If I'm not mistaken, of the population of this board, only DogsandBird and I have seen both combinations of Max/Laura and Derek/Ashley perform on Broadway.  Using that as a guideline I'd have to say only thw two of us could vote with any "authority".  And I, for once, won't vote because I don't think one pair is better than the other.

Well, Derek and Ashley never performed the number in it's entirity on the show.  Max and Laura did on the finale but Derek and Ashley only had single lines on a previous episode in one of the group numbers (was it ALW night?).  I don't know how fair a measuring stick that is.

I'm not saying you're wrong or that you're not entitled to your opinion.  Just suggesting that you're not basing it on a fair data.

ETA:  I didn't see JustDandy's post pointing this out already.  I shouldn't post without my contacts in.  I have my nose practically against the screen biggrin

Max & Laura sing Summer Nights at Broadway on Broadway free concert:


In my opinion, Max & Laura sing Summer Nights better than the movie version, because Max/Laura sounds and looks like real teenagers (with talents).

I have not yet seen Derek & Ashley sing Summer Nights.
