Taylor Brought His Cowbell to Grease!!
Permalink Closed

This is a post from someone who works at the theater, and is obviously a TH fan! I can only imagine what he's got in store for his last performance tonight! We will have recaps and video, I'm sure.

SEP-2008 01:49 AM - LOL.

"This is so late, but I want to post it.

So, tomorrow is Taylor Hicks's last show at Grease! (also the end of Rent. :() He has been an absolute thrill to watch! I will miss him greatly.

Now I have mentioned this before, but at the end of the show, the cast curtain calls, then kind of sings a verse from a couple of the main songs, dance together. And then Taylor sings Grease and plays his harmonica - since everyone loves him so much it's SO GREAT and it's really cool that he does that as a little extra for everyone. The whole end with that stuff is really fun and everyone really likes it. On a tangent, another thing I love about working is seeing the audience all clapping and yay and happy every day.

But yeah. Today when that was happening. Instead of the harmonica he had.

A drumstick. And a cowbell. And started playing it. I LOL'D SO HARD. SO HARD. It was amazing."

I know lots of you guys probably know the lady who did this adorable cartoon. Is her name Katja? Isn't she the lady who came all the way from Finland to see Taylor in GREASE? I just wanted to make sure she got proper credit for this. biggrin.gif

A short message from Bates between shows.

Bates called in with some "tid bits" from the dinner group.

"There is a group of close to 30 people at the restaurant next door to the B-A Theatre. Diane used her "connections" to get each attendee a 5 x 7 photo of Taylor personally autographed to the recipient!!!! Yeah Diane. Bates said she doesn't know how Diane does it but it was wonderful!!!

Taylor came out dressed in a red Allman Brothers t-shirt and autographed many items for the group. There will be "tons of media/videos" from today, according to Candy and Bates. Ace was with him and circulated down the barricades also."

More later

Yes, that's another drawing by katja. Isn't she fabulous? Taylor has a katja Teen Angel original in a frame in his dressing room. When she came to the States and got to see Grease, she of course, met with Taylor and gave him a book, containing all of the drawings she had done since she became a fan. The cartoons chronicle his entire journey since Idol, and he seemed blown away when she gave it to him. Taylor has some wonderful people from all over the country (the world) who support him in every possible way - and what's great is that he never forgets to acknowledge the SP or show his appreciation. He really is a special guy!

Another short recap from the girls (Candy called julie - who posted on the BB)

Report from Candy:

"Constantine was at the show -- saw him outside before the play.

No cowbell.

Lot of "Elvis" moves.

Tons of playing to the audience -- extra stuff - more than usual. Exaggerated eyebrow activity!

At the end of the play -- there was a group circle hug by the cast and they clapped him on his back and "they tried to pick him up" - but were unable to do so.

When he came out after the play he was all dressed up -- like he was on opening night. Dark jacket; white shirt; brown alligator boots. She thinks he had on a suit - not denim pants or jeans. Everybody piled into his car and left for what was assumed to be a "press party."

He had a haircut.

There were 3 or 4 professional photographers in front of the stage."
