They can't even film new B-roll for the TV spot?

Mr.E, I love the name of your topic!  But I don't know what you mean by a B-roll.  Do you mind explaining?  Thanks!  smile

I, personally, love the name of it too!  Thanks Mr. E. for vocalizing our thoughts!

B-roll is the term used to describe press footage and other video reels taken of shows, movies, etc. It's the clips you watch on the news of, say, Barack Obama, while Charlie Gibson talks over it.

Thanks for the explanation! Are you referring to the ad for "Grease" that they filmed with Ashley and Derek?

Or do you mean that there are not any commercials?  I have not seen any, but I was told that there are some.  I'd love to see them if there are!  And my hotel in New York did not have the ad that Ashley and Derek filmed.  cry

The current commercial promoting Ace uses footage that Max and Laura are in rather than Derek and Ashley.

Footage of Derek and Ashley exists. I've seen it used in interviews.

There are TV commericals, at least here in NYC, that still use original cast footage.

I'm sorry but that's annoying!  They need to show Ashley and Derek since they are the leads!  Especially if footage is available!  And if it wasn't available, make it available!  They've been in the show for almost 2 months!

No Tv commercials in my hometown....must be televised in NY.

Yes, when Ashley and Derek were on Good DAy NY or something like that, they showed Max and Laura video.  Everyone on the set seemed confused.  That doesn't make the show's producers look like they've got it together.

Yes, you're right Eris...I think I saw that on an interview that Derek did.  I saw it on the internet.

Thanks Mr. E you're a person after my own heart. You call a spade, a spade.
As for the producers, they have to spend money to make money - start promoting Derek and Ashley!

Yes, I remember that!  And it is frustrating!  There was that one video clip of Derek outside of the theater being interviewed that had a lot of footage with Ashley and Derek!  It was great--showed most of the finale!  Why not show that footage?

Of course it is saved on my computer now!  I love it!

That footage belongs to Broadwayworld.com and they wouldn't use curtain call footage to promote the show anyway.

I don't see commercials but I often forget to watch NY TV. lol

Marlo, I think you're remembering the footage that was shown on a local station in West Virgina and then posted online.

ETA...that's not the one I was talking about but that's one too.

But if Broadwayworld.com was allowed to get the footage, isn't the show itself?  I don't think that it would be that hard for the show to film one night and get some footage themselves!  You know that it would lead to more sales!  The show needs to do what it can to help itself, and that involves promoting its leads.

I saw the commercials on Fox 5 in NY. They just say now starring Ace Young, but it's the old commercial. And sometimes they show the shot of Ace,sometimes they don't.

The producers didn't have to pay Broadwayworld for that.  BWW probably gave them money.

People have written, emailed, etc. It's like talking to a brick wall! Like Mr. E. said. They don't want to invest the time or money in it.

True!  But the show needs to realize that sometimes you need to spend money to make money.  Plus, it can't be that expensive to film some of the show, substitute the scenes with Derek and Ashley in for the ones with Max and Laura, and then have them air.  They are already paying for the airtime.  All they have to do is switch the video clip.  Annoying!

It is sad, Shadi!  They did such a fantastic job recasting and then don't show the phenomenal people that they hired!  What a mistake!  Especially when you have two such attractive and talented leads!

Do they have merchandise for them yet, or do the posters still have Max and Laura's faces on 'em?

Online they still have Max and Laura posters!  It's ridiculous!

That really is sad...

You go to a show...want a keepsake...and they are selling posters of people that are no longer in the show....

I would hate to be the ones selling the merchandise. I bet they have lots of explaining to do.

They probably should have a security guard standing by them!

Quick Question.

Did they ever have posters with Taylor Hicks' picture on them? Just curious. I know there was a large billboard, but didn't know if there was merchandise.

I get to see the occasional Broadway commercial because I can choose between Philadelphia channels and NYC ones. I usually go with Philly because that's what I'm used to. But I do, on occasion, watch something on a NY channel. When I do get to see Broadway commercials they have the current cast in them. I don't think many shows reshoot commercials when the cast changes. Some of the NY people would know more about this than I do though.

Some shows do make cast changes often.  But these are the leading roles in the show.  They need to put Ashley and Derek in the clips.

Well I know there was a commercial that was shot in Central Park with Derek and Ashley, but I think it was just going to be shown in NY hotels and airplanes. I guess it is adorable. Has anyone seen it?

Good question, Shadi! I know that there aren't any posters with Taylor online.  But I'm not sure if there were at the show.

That's what is also disappointing!  It wasn't even in my hotel!  I need a complete list of the names of the hotels where it will be shown so I can make sure to book a reservation at one of them on my next trip!

Thanks!  aww  It will be my only chance to see it since I don't think I'll have occasion to fly Jet Blue!  So I'd better make sure that I am least in one of the right hotels!  smile

My neighbor is a pilot for JetBlue. Maybe he can get us a copy of the DVD. I will have to ask.
