I got home from NYC close to 1:30 and have been puttering around - cleaning up and stuff. But now I am here.
I met my friend Jen at the train station and we headed up to NYC. When we got to the theatre I wanted to use the ladies room before the show started so I gave my coat to Jen and I ran upstairs while she went to our seats. When I came back down the first thing I said was "Are there any understudies?". It was close to curtain and I wasn't sure if I'd have time to check myself. She nodded sadly and I immediately thought "Not Derek again!". But then she said it was "Teen Angel". I started to explain to her that Stephen wasn't an understudy and that he has simply rejoined the cast recently. But then she showed me the slip and it said that Matt was going on as Teen Angel! I did a little clpa and happy dance which amused her greatly.
With the exception of Ace and Matt the cast was pretty much the same as always so I won't go into too many details about that. But I do what to give a Happy Birthday shout to to Will first! Yay, Will!!
I was very pleasantly surprised by Ace. Before this I didn't know who he was but, for a second night, he did pretty good. He seemed a little stiff but that will pass in time. There were also a few minor missteps..but again...nothing that won't pass as he gets more accustomed to the role and his castmates. I noticed when Rizzo pushes him before We Go Together he looks behind him to see where the box was so that he can land on top of it. He'll learn to just take things as they come and not anticipate what comes next so much.
Matt was great as Teen Angel! He wore the white suit and played it Elvis-like. When the ice cream cone opened and he appeared I started to clap and I was the only one. Sometimes I'll start clapping and then other people will follow suit. Not this time. It was just me. Goody.
My friend Jen commented that the voice Dominic was using as Vince Fontaine sounded like Tony Danza doing Christopher Walken. And, after thinking about it, she's absolutely right. She also found his characterization of Vince to be rather odd and that the illusion of someone like Marty having a crush on him just didn't really sell the way it was supposed to.
I met some really nice Ace fans at the stage door and I told them about this site so maybe they'll be showing up.

Thanks for the review, Eris! Glad you had fun! My roommate and I kind of thought the same thing about Dominic. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but it is hard to imagine Marty falling for him.
How was Ashley? Did she seem o.k. from her injury? Did she make it through that cheerleading scene without being in too much pain? Did she and Derek come out to sign autographs afterwards? Thanks for sharing! I'd love to hear any details about Ashley and Derek!
I can think of one when he was sick. I don't know if there were any more. I think that the cast does the best that they can to make sure that they are there.
Hi, Kristen. Are you going to the BC/EFA Flea Market next Sunday? I'll be the to see the actors I know and to meet the very talented Bailey Hanks. If you see me, please grab me and say hello. I'll be the big guy walking with a cane.

Unfortunately, I will not be there. Or do you mean Eris?
Hello Zeus! I am such a huge Bailey Hanks fan---and you get to meet her?? How fun is that??? Are you taking a camera? Can you post here after to let us know how it went? Have fun and take care!! Dana
Okay, Eris. Do I have to say I told you so?? Hopefully, when I see the show next week, Ace will be more in tune with his dance steps, but I'm not always that objective when it comes to him, so... Glad you had a good time and met some good people. We have our trolls and our good people!! Just like every other fanbase.

he wasn't there the night Eris and I were there.I think he was injured earlier.

I'm sure that they try hard not to miss performances. But sometimes injuries can't be prevented. And they deserve to take vacations too! It's a rough schedule, and they need their breaks too.
As far as I know Derek has only missed one show and he was, actually, physically ill. I don't think the people in the front row would have wanted any part of that.
Linny, like I said you'll get used to my picking on people. I pick more on people that I like so if you see me making jokes about Ace it's because I like him. It's just the way I am. You should see family dinners at my house when we're all together. The zingers just fly!
As for Ashley's injury I expected her kicks to be a little tentative during the finale because I figured she didn't want to overextend herself. But they weren't and she did them full out. I didn't notice anything different.

Thanks, Eris! I am glad that Ashley was back and that she's feeling well enough to get fully back into the part! Can't wait until I can go and see her perform!
