As was mentioned before Jose injuried his knee during Greased Lightenin' last Wednesday. Well, the injury is more serious than originally thought and he will need surgery. His absense is anticipated to last roughly six weeks as he rests and recooperates.
I'm suggesting we all flood the theatre with cards and notes for Jose. I mailed mine this morning. Let's let Jose know how much he's appreciated and missed!

That's too bad....my sister is at the show RIGHT NOW, lucky :) She called me from her seat----4th row from the front---and was dismayed to learn Jose was out, as he is one of the highlights for both of us. He is so very watchable and I hope he makes a fast recovery! Can't wait to hear how the show was when she gets back; we've seen it with Max & Laura 3 times, the last one being their final show. It'll be interesting to hear her review! Get better soon, Jose!!!!!!!!

Is Flygirl2 your sister LauraFan1? You said she was going to the show on Tuesday didn't you? This is what she had to say about the show, guess she didn't like it. This post is from the Broadwayworld message board. Swing joined: 7/16/08 re: Ashley Spencer is fantastic in 'Grease!' Posted On: 10/23/08 at 11:22 PM
Hi Kristen, so glad you got to see Ashley as Sandy. I went to the show on Tuesday. I had seen it with Max and Laura and the original cast, and I must say, I think it was better with the originals. The standout to me was Ace Young, both in the show, and afterwards with his fans at the stage door. I think that Ashley was probably great in Hairspray, but didn't think that she is believable as a 50's Catholic schoolgirl. Derek, who was my favorite on the NBC show, was a bit of a disappointment as well, and kind of "grinned" his way through the show. There were several empty seats in the theater on either sides of my friend and I, as well as behind us, so I wouldn't be surprised if the show closed in the near future. The audience was pretty nonresponsive to the songs as well as most of the jokes, and there were no standing ovations or loud applause. I was a bit surprised that "ballerina Sandy" seemed like a non-dancer to me, the show definetely lacked a lot of energy. Of course, this is all in comparison to Max and Laura, so maybe if you hadn't seen the original cast, then it would have seemed better. Now it is like a good amateur production. Max and Laura had so much energy and chemistry, they even came out afterwards and signed autographs and posed for pictures together! There seems to be no such connection between Derek and Ashley. I understand that there's a Grease forum and I will try to write a full review this weekend. Good night Grease fans!
Wow, that is some review I am surprised she went to see the show since she is clearly Max and Laura fan. That still is a lot of money to spend just so you could say you didn't like Ashley and Derek in the role
Kristen, I read the thread on Broadway World and I am so sorry that you were beaten up verbally just for being such and ardent fan. Anyone should be so lucky to have a friend or a fan like you. That Girl really hates Ashley doesn't she, too bad to spend so much time hating.

By all means, thank you LauraFan1 for letting us know that your sister was at the show and that Jose was out I too hope he makes a fast recovery, I am sure the cast misses him terribly.

Me too.
Anyway, D&B, I was on the phone with Andy last night and she was asking if Jose will be stopping by the theatre. I told her that I think he needs to stop by and sign in or something but I wasn't sure. Do you know if there is a rule about him having to go to the theatre?

Yes, it isn't too bad an injury (are there good injuries??) although it is painful. It will be arthroscopic and he should be up and at 'em soon. He would much rather be in Grease than doing this!

I think he may stop by now and then when he is in the city, not sure. I will have to ask him about it!
I know when a baseball player is on the DL they have to keep in contact with the team and be at the stadium from time to time unless they're rehabbing with a minor league team. And I remembered them having to go to the theatre to sign in during last year's stagehands strike. I figured it might be similar.

I am sure he will show up at the theater from time to time. The stage manager will let him know he has mail and he can stop by to pick it up. He will love all the mail he receives!

I am sorry too Kristen! You don't deserve that!
And, Kristen, you know that you always have tons of support from your friends here!

I hope he doesn't have a torn ligament, his recovery will be a little harder.

Right you are, AshleyFan. It makes no sense. I feel your pain, Kristen. It's hard to believe people waste so much of their non-productive lives hating....especially hating people they don't even know.

You've got my support for now and forever Kristen...You are the one of the sweetest good-hearted people I know! I wish people had half the heart you do!
