Just wanted to post for the first time on this Board. My name is Sue McGrew and I have been lurking for months, but never thought I should start posting because I thought I might be too passionate in my postings for Miss Ashley Spencer and the Cast! I am a close family friend, and decided it might be best for me to just to read and to keep posted on the daily activities of the show! (Note for Eris,,,I finally gave in, and decided to make a post...lol).
I hadn't seen the show yet, so this was my first visit to see Grease. I am a friend of Ashley's and have been very involved in Ash's little ride to Broadway! I was one of the people that helped arrange her hometown finale party!
At this party, is where I met Kristen Friedland (who is Ashley's biggest fan by the way). Kristen and I have become quite good friends during the last couple of years, just talking every now and then about Ashley in Hairspray, and then started to chat more when I found out that Ashley was joining the cast of Grease.
When, Kristen didn't get to see Ashley in the show a month or so ago, I talked to Kristen and decided that I would meet her along with other Ohio friends of Ashley and we would attend the show together.
Well, it was one of the best weekends of my life. Had a great visit with Kristen and Elizabeth (Kristen's roommate), and with my daughter Missy and best friend of 50 years Ann Marie! Ashley knew how important our meeting in New York was, and she went out of her way to make sure we all have a BLAST!
We all spent the day together with Ashley....went for a quick lunch...then back to her dressing room before the matinee. After the matinee Ashley met us all for dinner and then ran back to the theatre for the next show.
THEN WE WENT TO THE SHOW! There isn't anything for me to say, other than I was so thoroughly entertained the whole time I sat in that theatre. The show was remarkably wonderful! The cast members were so very talented! They are all a truly well-blended group of talented actors! (I sure wish I could have gotten to see Jose, because I hear he is wonderful as Sonny. I may have to make another trip when he comes back.)
After the show, Ashley again invited us backstage, where we got to take pictures with her and a lot of the other cast members. It was a very great day for a lot of us!
I know you will read this Ashley, so thanks Ash for taking care of us, and also for your hospitality! We had one of the best weekends ever! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! The crazy video will be in the mail soon!
And, thanks to all the Cast of Grease, for the great memories. It is a great show, and I know it will be around for a long time!
Derek and Ace.....are handsome as h. e. double hockey sticks. Hey Eris...got a couple of cute pics of him that I will post on here for you.
Ashley...you are truly our "Sandy." Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent with us all!
Sorry for all the edits folks! I keep finding more pictures!
Yes, it is Sue and Ashley who made me have the best day ever!!!! Thank you to you both! Sue, I am so grateful for the friendship that we have developed! And I really enjoyed spending time with you, your daughter, and your friend, as did Elizabeth. What a fun experience! It was an amazing weekend, and I thank you for setting it up. And seeing Ashley as "Sandy" was awesome! What a great talent she is! And I am so grateful that Ashley spent so much of her time with us! I love being her fan, and I will continue to support her any way I can! She's the best!!!
And Sue, I love your avatar! What a beautiful picture of you and Ashley! I'm so glad that you had such a great time together! Your love for each other was evident! You are both such special people, and I am so glad that you have such a wonderful relationship!
See, there's the rub. If an actor reads the boards, they come across both positive and negative reviews. Of course, they're more likely to take offense to the negatives, especially the ones that rip them new a'holes. Catch-22.

I haven't been here long, but I haven't seen much negative stuff about the cast. except Taylor.

Yes, and you have to take the negative reviews with a grain of salt! There are always going to be plenty of those. Most of those are from views that have the "green-eyed monster" attached to them! There are a lot of jealous, out of work actors in New York! who think they are so much better than the person performing on stage...so go figure!

You're right Broadway Dude! I also think envy would be an appropriate defining word. Unfortunately, most people have had to experience jealousy or envy at one time or another.
Choderman was someone very prevelent on the NBC board, and she posts everywhere about Ashely-even here in the past. She also took credit for putting together the big party for Ashely at the end of the Grease YTOTIW show. I'm fairly certain her name was Sue too-what a weird coincidence!

Well, there were a lot of people involved in planning the party. Newspaper people, radio people, etc....Player's Guild. Everyone had a job to do to get it together...so I'm not sure. There were hundreds of people at the party....radio, tv coverage, etc.

I was one of the contact people.
Choderman's name is Sue too! I did an internet search and found a message that Kristen had posted about the party and she refers to Sue (Choderman) I'm surprised you don't know her-maybe Kristen could introduce you.
Here is part of Kristen's post:
"As some of you might have seen, earlier this week, Choderman (Sue) named me the "Biggest Ashley Spencer fan ever," a title that I was so happy to receive! I earned this title when last Sunday, I drove to Canton, Ohio, from Silver Spring, Maryland (six hours) to attend Ashley's finale party!"

Phew, good thing I'm not an out of work actor. I'm not even an in of work actor.

Wow! Choderman's name is Sue McGrew too! Here is the proof:
QUOTE (Choderman @ Mar 26 2007, 09:40 AM) Hi Everyone! This is Sue McGrew. Yes, the party was wonderful! All my friends came out to support Ashley when I told them about the party! I knew that there were going to be tons, so I called the Fox and Hound to let them know that there was going to be more than expected so that they could prepare. Ashley has many supporters here in Jackson Township.
Sue McGrew
Wow what are the chances of that! Here is a link the post is near the bottom of the page:
