I have not seen any new topics or posts in the last day and one half. Have we run out of things to chat about? Other than sevral off-topic, i.e. non-Grease topics (play-by-play baseball? - get serious!), may of the recent discusiions have lost their interest for folks to add comments.. Have we moved on? Are we no longer into "Grease"?
I can sat that as long as my friends, Ashley and Eric are in the show, I will not lose interest, and will chat about the show as long as folks want to chat.
Let's keep the board going. I, for one, have made many very fine friends here, and would be sorry to see this board go away as long as the show runs on Broadway.

I'm still here too ! I've just been side tracked by work because of the pending holiday season and am too tired for fun ! Today is my first day off in eight days ! I'm not complaining because I'm blessed to still have a job. I hope to remain invovled on this forum where I have met some wonderful people.
This place went down hill when the Idol freaks started joining up.
You know I usually ignore such statements, but yours is rather offensive and saddens me. I'm an Idol fan a music fan as well as a fan of Grease ! I don't consider myself a freak ! Yes there were definitely some who came here to start trouble but many who did not.
Seems to me we have always had a thread or two off topic. No biggie. Nice that people are communicating, even if it isn't just about Grease.
Did I miss a cast change? Who is Eric?

I'm sure Zeus meant Derek. I completely understood who Zeus was talking about. Sometimes Zeus' spelling might not be the best, but I think he gets his point across.

Judy, just ignore Mr. E....sometimes he just likes to come in here and stir the pot. He never has much else to say!

Zeuss, I understand what you are saying. I really enjoy this board though and hope that it will continue. I will stay on the board for mulitiple reasons. I will continue to support Ashley, as I am a huge fan. And I have enjoyed getting to know many of the people on the board and would love to continue communicating with them. I would love to hear any ideas that people have to keep this board going!

Judy, do not be offended by MrE's quote, I happen to agree with him. It was the "freaks" that turned the board down hill. Although you may be an Idol fan, you are not a "freak". I think with persistant and patience, the board finally weeded through all the "good" fans and discarded all the "freaks".

I too understood who Zues was talking about, but what I didn't understand was why he called him a friend. At least for those people that I refer to as my friend, I know their name.

Since the tour has taken a number of the Broadway cast members and with injuries, vacations and such, it is altogether possible that new cast members are in the show that I do not know of so it was a legitimate question.
So I don't type very well; sue me! Derek is my friend; we've had several great chats and I make a pont of seeing him when I'm in NYC.
Let's keep the board positive. If you want to mock my typing, do it in a PM.
I was NOT mocking your typing. If you read my post, it was merely a question about there perhaps being a new cast member whose name is Eric. I don't PM people with negative comments about their keyboarding skills or anything else.
Are you looking to start an issue? I asked a question, got an answer, enough said?
Yes, this board is quiet, but it's understandable. There's not a lot of excitement on Broadway in general (because of the economy, etc.) so there isn't a lot of news to chat about. Let's keep our fingers crossed that with the approach of the holiday season, things will pick up and the excitement will return.
If we're all finding it a bit "dull" at the moment, imagine how the cast and crew must be feeling? This must be a tough time for them, with the injuries and changes, and of course, fewer people in the audience. It must be very difficult for them to keep their energy and enthusiasm up for every performance! I was thinking now would be a good time for their fans to drop them a card or a note, to let them know that they're still appreciated and thought of - and that we're sure things will pick up soon. A few words of encouragement and support during this lull might be just what they need.
They're innundated with cards and gifts on opening night - when things are going great. Why not let them know they haven't been forgotten and we're all looking forward to brighter days ahead!
I can already feel the excitement and energy picking up on Taylor's fan sites because the tour will be starting in a few weeks, his new album is almost finished, and people will be seeing him soon. It's contagious. All they need is something to look forward to and the enthusiasm feeds on itself.
If "Grease" fans can muster up some new enthusiasm and pass it on to the cast members, it may just be the catalyst they need to get them through until the tourists arrive over the holidays. (That's the opinion of this American Idol "freak" anyway! LOL!) Chins up, everyone!

Some of us are just "gettin' our freak on" in other ways. I've met some very interesting people here, chatting in PM's, and I'll be around for a while.
I worked hard during the election, and now I hope the country can get things moving in the right direction again. Fingers crossed.

Come on Mr. E. Now you know that wasn't fair at all! There are some really great American Idol fans on here.
maybe he just meant the ones who joined to cause trouble.
I know there were some trolls that were causing trouble a few months ago, but luckily the admin took care of that problem. I think everythings been going great now. I haven't been on as much, but I'll try and stop in more often.

I'm glad to hear you'll be around for a while, Karen. It's been really nice getting to know you here. Plus I love seeing that avi, everytime you post ;)
I think with the new board rules, the trolls are gone for good, or at least I hope so. Even if they did come back, they know they'd be sent to detention, so I doubt they'd even try.
They should know, since they saw the way they harrassed me and a few other Ace fans. I'm just glad they're gone, and that the board has been peaceful since then.

What ever happened with those trolls who kept crowing that the show was closing? I hope they have moved on.
The past 2 weeks have been blissful (with a couple of minor bumps in the road).
The few times I've checked the last few weeks, the boards been completely dead, so I wouldn't really consider that blissful, but hopefully now that me, Karen and others are back, it'll pick up again.

It was quiet, but I did see a couple of dust-ups when I was lurking recently, and nobody from AI seemed to be involved. Stalkers can just be ignored. Life's too short.

Let me start off by apologizing to Zeus for my actions. I have recently realized that life is too short and that event though Zeus may have not been very nice to me in the past or that he may have disrespected me, its only one action. I really don't know Zeus all that well, I do know him from our encounters on this forum, but not personally. I will admit that I was passing judgement against Zeus for his actions that he has shown me in the past. Single actions don't tell the whole story, more like the cover of the book. Seeing that I really don't know Zeus all that well, I will take the time to apologize and move on.

Takes a person with a lot of character to admit they have made a mistake and apologize for it! You have my total respect Hello799. So many people in this world, can't do that! Have a great day Hello799!

Trolls aside, if it weren't for American Idol fans, I think the show would have been in trouble long ago. The initial excitement following the TV show faded a bit. Bringing in Taylor and now, Ace, has injected some new life into the show. I'm not diminishing the talents of anyone in the show. The fact is that you need a big name to draw in the general public. I don't know that Ace is that big, but he does have some recognition. And for me it's Christmas every day to see his face up there in Times Square! BUT - let's be thankful for the tickets being sold!! In these times, it's a miracle there is a line at TKTS every day!

When was Taylor with the show? If you look at the Grosses for Grease http://www.broadwayworld.com/grossesshow.cfm?show=GREASE&year=2007, you will see that for all of 2007 Grease was only at 80% one week (and never lower) and most other weeks it was well over 90% sold. This trend continued in the first half of 2008, before Taylor joined the show-there was only one week it was below 70% and most weeks it was well over 90%. I'm glad that Taylor joined Grease and that a lot of his fans got to see him, but the numbers were really strong before he joined the cast this summer. Take a moment to look at the grosses because I think the numbers are pretty impressive. Times are a little tough right now and that is definitely going to effect ticket sales. I've heard excellent things about Ace, yet ticket sales are still down.

Thanks for the info about the previous sales. Being an Idol fan, I've read a lot of the boards, and I've seen so many posts where fans of Taylor were giving him the credit for the shows entire sales, which we all know isn't the case at all. No one person was responsible for them, and as you pointed out, the sales were already strong, before he joined. I think it's a combination of the entire cast, and the show itself that deserves the credit for the strong sales. And I'm not trying to say anything negative about Taylor, like some of his fans will probably come and say, but that's one thing that bothers me is when credit for the entire shows grosses are given to one person.
