Damn! I set the DVR for the Macy's Parade, to get Archuleta, and was disappointed that I neglected to set it for the other Parade. It's not on the tube yet, but Ace's fans will probably come through.
I have it recorded on my dvr, but I have no idea how to transfer it from TV to computer. Thankfully before I went to bed last night, I checked the description of both parades. CBS listed performances by the cast of Mary Poppins and Grease. Otherwise, I would have watched Macy's.
I also have no idea how to do such advanced technological fetes. People are probably too stuffed right now to think about it, but it will show up on the tube eventually. Everything does.
I am not into the technical stuff, so I would've given myself a headache trying to figure it out. Plus I would've been extra tired this morning while shopping those early bird specials!
In the parade performance, check out the individual in the background when Ace says, "Hydromatic"! It looks as if an onlooker was trying to get some camera time!?!?!?

It was stuff that like that caused them to have to do 18 takes.

Great video! Max used to figure prominently in this number, but they restaged it for Ace. Is this how they do it in the show? Ace needs another song at least. He could sing Addicted in Act 2. After all, Taylor will be singing his single on tour.
The parade version is similar to the stage version. They changed the lyrics a little for family friendly tv. Not quite as much dancing/standing on this real car as with the prop car onstage. On stage he takes his jacket off a little bit earlier. I'm glad to have this video but sure missed the big "pose".
That's sweet of you, Ray, but "Addicted" doesn't belong in the show. Much as I love my Ace, the rockstar and the Broadway star are two separate entities! As Ace himself told me, "Totally different kind of music."
I know these guys worked their butts off on this sequence, but the stage version is just so superior. Ace didn't get to do his posing, which is what brings the audience to their feet. My brother-in-law thought it was terrible. He's a big old Travolta fan. Grrrrr.
I confess to having no theater experience beyond a grade school play so I never think about prop placement. I've watched the video and looked at the photoshoot pics a time or two or twenty. It was fun for me to watch the guys retrieve the hidden shop towels towards the end of the number. *poof* All of a sudden they magically appear out of nowhere. Wheel wells, tailpipes, bumpers..... haha.
Oh, Linny - brother-in-law is a Travolta fan? Have you refreshed his memory with youtube video of Travolta's GL? Ace's version is MUCH better, IMO.

My B-I-L said "I'll show you the way Greased Lightning should be" meaning he thought I never saw the movie clip. Bah!! I will take my Ace anyday over Barbarino. Sorry.

Another cause for 18 takes might be BAD "lip sync"??
