I was watching Larry King the other night and Donny and Marie were on the show. It turns out that Marie turned down the role of Sandy( or so she says) before it was offered to Olivia! Sorry if this was already mentioned-I just found it really interesting. I think she could have done a great job.

I never knew that, but it is interesting. I still think that even though Marie would have done a good job, that it wouldn't have been as good without Olivia. The part was just perfect for her.
She is just not spunky enough or pretty enough any more.
Also she is to dark complected. Dark Hair and eyes.
Sandy needs to be fair IMO.
Oh no, you misunderstood, this was 30 years ago, not recently. lol I think Marie looks pretty good but it would be funny to imagine her trying to play a 17 year old. I think if she had played the part you wouldn't have been able to see a blond in the role. Marie would have been great, but I think Olivia did a good job.

Too much of my recollection, Marie Osmond's career kind of went into hibernation after she turned down this role.

She had several number one coutry hits after turning down grease and did some made for TV movies and was Anna in the King and I, Maria in the Sound of Music on Broadway. She's made millions from her doll business and I think she has eight kids. All in all she's had a very long and successful career, while raising eight children. I don't follow country music and I'm not into dolls, but I would consider her very successful. I doubt that she regrets turning down Grease, as a matter of fact I think she even made that clear-to be honest though I was watching the show for Donny. I think Donny is the ony superstar I ever had a mad crush on when I was a child. Lol
Oh and I forgot to mention that she is in a huge show in Las Vegas right now and she just got signed to host a talk show in the fall of 2009. I think when you look at the success of someone in this business you have to look at what they have done over their whole career rather than a brief glimpse of time. I think Marie Osmond has a career that most people in the business would envy.
