Have any of you seen the British version of the show that is running now?  The judges have paired the Dannys and Sandys up and they compete as a team.  The viewers vote for the team and it appears the teams don't change.  So potentially (and it has happened) a talented contestant may be teamed with one not quite so good and both get eliminated.  Glad it didn't work that way in the US!

Continuing this... for any who might be interested... The UK version has now eliminated three pairs and now David Ian and team have switched team members... and it appears you still vote for the team to be eliminated.  Yikes!  Last week they commented that they might have made a mistake in the pairings. This week, they've changed them with the reasoning that each contestant might have to perform with a different partner.

To be honest, so far I haven't seen any on the UK version that can match Max and Laura ... or Austin and Ashley for that matter.

So glad we got to select them individually though.  Wonder how they might have been paired in the US show if they had gone this route?

Are they as good as Laura and Max?

Well, I don't think so.  I don't think any of them have as much charisma as Laura and Max and the girls' voices aren't as strong as Laura's or Ashley's (or Alli or Kate!).  The boys are okay, but no spark in it.  And they were not together, slightly offkey.  My opinion.

And this week, they've split the pairs up and it was the guys only.  The judges eliminated one, then the voters eliminated one so they are down to two for the finals.  I presume that next show they will do the same thing with the girls.

The producers are looking for sexy.  From the show info for the UK:

"As leader of the T-Birds, the rebel Danny Zuko oozes sex appeal and can have any chick he desires. High School is only an excuse to flirt with the bombshells, get up to mayhem and smoke cigarettes. Along comes Sandy Dumbrowski a true beauty but a real square and the chase is on!"

Hmmmmm...

It has a different director and choreographer, so I would guess a different approach.  The UK one starts in previews on July 25 and opens on August 8 whereas the Broadway version has a month of previews.  I am surprised that the director of the production is not one of the judges and apparently (from what I saw) had no input to the selection of the potential Dannys and Sandys.

I watched Lauren and Bradley do "It Takes Two" and it didn't hold a candle to Ashley and Max.  I may be biased, but I gotta say, Max made me sit up and take notice when he sang.  These guys, nada...weirdface

Max is really good... as far as I am concern he is Danny Zuko... His voice and attitude...he has all the package.

For anyone who is interested, the show has concluded and Danny B and Susan are the winners in the UK.  I think they will do fine as Danny and Sandy (and they were my choices), and look more like the movie character images, I suppose.  I haven't seen the final performances, but I still prefer Max and Laura.  Many of the performances from the series are up on YouTube.

Susan is 24 to Danny B's 19. She looks way too old to play Sandy, IMHO@!
