I am glad to see that you are on the site. How much longer before the "super" 3 get to see the show? Where is Dawn gone? Unless she is using a name I dont recognize I have not seen her on this forum or the one on Max's website. I am going to have to text her. Take care. I have about 17 days before I go see the show.
22 days and counting. I think Dawn has been very busy making costumes. 17 days? You must be so excited. Hope the wait goes quickly.
I'm glad to hear that rehearsals are going well. I would imagine it would be really exciting to think that your daughter is going to be opening in her first Broadway play very soon. Even though I can't go I'm excited for all the kids but of course especially so for Laura and Max. I hope that everybody takes lots of pictures and gives a detailed report on this site. I'm also glad to hear that Laura is having fun with what she is doing. Ain't life grand! God Bless, Reniefran
Jane, Thanks so much for the updates. It means so much to the fans to know ANYTHING about how Max and Laura are doing. My prayers go with them both. Kay
To the Moms! Thanks for the updates and for sharing with us. Those of us who love and supported Laura and Max throughout their long audition process appreciate any news related to them. They both have a fan base that wishes them much success and will follow them for years to come. I am so happy that I will be in New York to see them perform on my 70th birthday this year. Okay - so I may be a little old to be "star struck", but that is what these two wonderful, talent kids have done for me and I am enjoying it.
Yep and I bet it makes the whole thing more real. I mean it would be one thing to be reahearsing somewhere in another venue but wow to move to the theater then it would be real. I can imagine a few butterflys as you contemplate facing your first Broadway audience. How cool would that be?
Knowing from personal experience how beastly NYC can be in a hot spell I have been wondering about air conditioning in the rehearsal halls, and now that the locale is shifted, in the theater itself.
No real specific news to report but when Laura text messages things like, "Mom, I"ll try to call you tomorrow to tell you how great tech rehearsals are going!" that's a good thing! Ha! She's excited, cheerful, having a great time! The days are a little long at this point, but the addition of sets, costumes, the theatre itself, orchestra etc. really makes it come to life! She says she loves working with Max. They connected in the very beginning at the first audition in Los Angeles and their respect and affinity for each other continues to grow and shine! Isn't that great? It will make a for a great show!
Thanks so much for the update. I have known all along that this show was special and Laura and Max are going to blow a lot of people who don't know even who they are! This has God's seal of approval on it I really believe that. I am making it a point to pray for all of the kids in the play but most especially Laura and Max.
My gosh, Reniefan, that is SO beautiful!!!!! Yes, God has His Stamp of Approval on this show :) I absolutely cannot wait to see it-----oooooooh, 2 months from tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arrrghhhh, I can't stand it (obviously!) I think ALOT of the naysayers, and critics are going to be very surprised, I can't wait to read those reviews. Having heard Laura in person, I can tell you she is beyond amazing, and will make a PERFECT Sandy :) Hope you are having a nice night!
The following is Laura's commentary on the rehearsal process (taken from her interview in Playbill July 13)....
Question: How do you think your performance will differ this time? Osnes: The rehearsal process for the Broadway show is going so well, and I'm so excited about it. It is a different Sandy. It's a much stronger, much deeper character in this version than the one I was playing before. I'm not saying that was bad. It was a great show there, and it was totally fun to be a part of it, but I really love what Kathleen Marshall is doing. We did a lot of table work at the beginning to talk about the relationships between each of the characters and the fun that Danny and Sandy must have had the summer before, bringing that into every scene. Actually, the play, the way it's written, Danny and Sandy fight in every scene. They never are happy together, so you could make Sandy just really pouty and wanting to make Danny apologize in every scene, but Kathleen Marshall really has this vision of both of them coming into each [scene], and each time they see each other, remembering what they had in the summer and wanting it to work so badly, until something else comes in the way. It's a deeper side of it. It is a new discovery in the role of Sandy and her relationship with Danny, which is exciting. So it's not like I'm doing the same thing I already did. There are so many new facets of the show, and of the role, that I'm discovering.
How wonderful for you that you got to hear Laura in person! It is now Sunday morning and it is a quiet one. I went to church last night so this morning I am enjoying the quiet. I took the phone off the hook and everything. I hope to hear lots of details about your viewing of Grease. I am excited for everybody that is getting to go. And of course it helps that Max and Laura are excited too!
Thanks again, "Laura's Mom" for sharing news. In that last YTOTIW show, I could see how well Max and Laura worked together. In that last performance show, their stage chemistry was obvious and I became excited about the prospect of seeing this particular couple playing Danny and Sandy. Can't wait to see them on Broadway. Can't you just feel the good energy, building for this show?
I just caught Laura at home for a supper break with her husband! Rehearsals are now 12 hour days--noon to midnight! I think all the actors have to be there now for the whole day. Laura is flying high even though the days are long. She is feeling like the show is going to just be great! Only 5 more days until the first preview! How I envy Rachel (Max's Mom) who gets to go see that show. But I can't complain! We will go opening night, August 19.
Thanks for the update. Whoa! Twelve hours. I won't complain about my 8 hour days. I have been praying for energy and strength and from the sounds of your update my prayers are answered!
12 hours?? wow, that must take an unbelievable amount of energy and stamina. But, I bet everyone's pulling it off wonderfully though. I'll be praying for them. 6 days until I see it!!!
