Just kind of a site note here: OBC stands for Original Broadway Cast. OBCR stands for Original Broadway Cast Recording. So what you said was technically "Original Broadway Cast Cast Recording." :)
Also, there have been numerous revivals of Grease, including the current one. So if a revival recording does come out with the current cast, it will be referred to as The 2007 Revival Cast Recording or something along those lines. The OBCR was recorded many years back.
Not trying to start an argument or hurt feelings or anything like that, just thought I would share that with you. :D
I'd heard that there will be a 2007 cast recording but have no idea when it will be out. There's not really a set standard on how long it takes for the recording to come out. Pirate Queen, for example, opened in March and the OCR came out in July after the show had closed. But other shows have their cast recordings out when the show opens. It varies

Just a note as I think of it...I am as well anxiously awaiting the album...I was at the show Aug 5th and they didn't have them. What I did not realize until I got there was that the show had not actually opened, and I was watching a preview show. Thankfully, I wasn't the only one there that didn't have the information!
I spoke with one of the employees that worked there, and she informed me that it was in the making, but was not sure if they would have it in time for opening night.
I have been to other shows, however, and every show already had their disk for sale.
My thoughts are that because Grease has been so hyped up due to the tv show, they are probably busting their butts to have it available asap!
I've heard that September is a time of transition in people's minds and not good for sales. There may be something to it as the release date is the first Tuesday after September. I wonder if it will be available for download earlier. There are 3 songs I would download.
Coming home Laura Osnes will bring her Broadway cachet to the Ivey awards this September in Minneapolis. Osnes, who won the role of Sandy and is in previews for "Grease" at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, will return to her hometown to sing "Hopelessly Devoted to You" at the ceremony that celebrates Twin Cities theater each year. Osnes will record the song for the original cast recording. "I'll be the first person to record `Hopelessly Devoted to You' on a cast album since Olivia Newton John," said Osnes recently in New York. The Iveys will be Sept. 24 at the State Theatre on Hennepin Avenue.
I wonder if she will miss any performances of Grease. That's a Monday so maybe not. That's the chance you take when buying tickets. I would love to go during the week of New Years but would be disappointed if one or both of them are not there.
Laura will not miss any shows to come home for the Ivy Awards in Minneapolis. She will leave to come home after the Sunday show and return before the Tuesday evening show. How I wish we could keep her longer, but it won't happen! And to GreatWhiteWay--we aren't expecting her to be able to come home for Christmas either, but the exact schedule of performances over the Christmas holidays has not yet been released, so I suppose it's remotely possible she'd have a two-day time frame she maybe COULD come home but who knows yet? With winter weather always being a traveling risk for both New York and Minneapolis, it seems it could be unwise to come and risk not being able to get back on time too. THE SHOW MUST GO ON, afterall, and Laura will be committed to her job I am certain. She and Nate will probably make their own very special Christmas this year and we family may just have to go visit them sometime around the season to share the holiday joy with them.
Generally, shows usually take either Christmas Eve or Christmas Night off. What with Christmas Eve being a dark Monday and Christmas Day being a Tuesday, it's quite possible they'll have it off and add a matinee on Friday, the 28th.
Just wanted to drop in and let you Grease fans know that they were recording the Cast Recording today...they moved the original Thurs. Opening Night to Sunday to accomodate the studio hrs. I spoke with my best friend Jose while he was in the green room. I heard laughing and everyone sounded in great spirits..It's going to be great! Cheers!
