Ok, as you all probably realize, Eris is one of my bestest friends. And after all she has done for me, I want to do something for her. Of course, after my trip to NYC, I'm totally broke, but we all know how supportive she has been of all the contestants, and after what she did for Ashley's sister back in March, it gave me an idea: let's send her to Sarasota to see Derek in a Tale of Two Cities!
After much painstaking reasearch, it looks like it will be approx. $800.00 to send her and a chaperone (yes, she'll need one, this IS Derek, after all) to Sarasota, depending on where the chaperone flies in from. This includes airfare and lodgine for two, two tics to the show, and a rental car. (Public transportation in Florida sucks!)
Anyway, if anyone feels inclined to help out, let me know, and we can get the ball rolling! I'm aiming to get her there for Halloween.
Ah, Andy. When she first brought this idea up to me last week I was skeptical. Even though I'd told her not to she informed me that she was pretty much dead set on doing this and no amount of squawking on my part was going to dissuade her.
I was concerned on how it would appear to others and how it would effect my own karma. I don't do the things I do because I expect some "reward".
I was talking to another friend of mine about my doubts and she told me that if this the way Marj wants to "pay it forward" then I need to let her. She said, karmicly, it's the best way to go. For me to stand in her way would "stop the cycle" because not only would she be paying it forward by organizing it but everyone who donates would be paying it forward. So rather than hurting my own karma it's helping everyone else's.
So, I have come to a decision regarding Marj's idea. First off she has to come with me. I won't take anyone other than her to Florida with me. Secondly, any money left over after paying for everything will go to the Christopher Reeve Foundation.

Sometime after 9:30pm I ran out the door to pick up my sister from her final dress rehearsal of a show she's performing in. It's called Through Our Eyes and it's all about intolerance towards handicapped people and most of the cast is handicapped in some way. My sister, for example, is multiply handicapped with a tactile disorder, low muscle tone, and is developmentally challenged
I arrived home after 10pm and I found a message waiting for me from Andy. An angel had descended and taken care of everything and then some. So if you ever doubt that there angels in the world I'm here to remind you that there are. There are wonderful people in this world who think of others and try to do what is right. There is one on this board and may she rest with the knowledge that she has put stars in our eyes and smiles to our faces.
Whomever you are you will always be appreciated.

Wow. I messaged Andy myself as soon as I got back online tonight after reading this post, wanting to contribute towards Eris's trip... only to find out that things had already been taken care of, at lightning speed! (Grease Lightning has nothing on this!) Needless to say, I still felt prompted to give what I had planned to give away, just from the little I've gotten to know Eris through these online boards. So even though Eris is already on her way to Sarasota, (so to speak) I hope that others are still encouraged to give! Thanks Eris, for being such a shining person to many people - including Andy!
