Well folks, we pulled it off. I fixed it with Laura to have Jason get on his knee at the stage door. Laura and Max's undertudy Matt (who covered for Max last night), helped. I was pleased to help Jason and his beautiful fiance', who by the way said yes before Jason finished th question. Laura was like a kid at Christmas, jumping up and dpwn and spinnning, cheering loudly for the couple. Everyone posed for pictures with the happy couple.
Congratulations Jason and Michele. I was proud to be a small part of your memorable evening. (BTW, folks my real name is Peter.)

I am so happy for the both of you!! The proposal is something that will be told over and over years to come!! Great time and oppurtunity to a Grease fan!! Now, if you can only use the stage and Grease back drop for the wedding.....
Peter, thanks for the verbal "visual" of Laura! I laughed and laughed as I can so see her jumping and spinning around as you descirbed! I never know as her Mom how many things like this they might get asked to do and I never really know how or if they can pull such things off! I'm so pleased to know it worked this time. And obviously Laura thought it was fun indeed! Congratulations again to the couple and I too would love to see some photos! Also, I hadn't heard Max missed another show. Anyone know--is he under the weather?
just wanted to chime in here. i was lucky enough to witness the whole lovely moment. it was 17 degrees when i was walking down to the theater at around 10:20 and felt even colder after standing still for a few seconds but there was so much warmth radiating from the pavement in front of the stage door -- from laura, from pete, and from jason and michele -- one could've sworn it wasn't a january evening in nyc at all. yes, michele did say 'yes' before jason even finished the question and yes, laura was super excited for the couple and adorable. and for me, it was just lovely to bear witness to something sweet and pure and positive especially when there is so much negative stuff going on in the world.
it was wonderful meeting jason and michele (and pete, 'the facilitator') and i wish them all the best.
and of course, it was great to see laura and a bummer that max wasn't there to share in the festivities. but, all and all, a really awesome night!

You are very welcome. I'm glad it gave you a chuckle. Max was out sick Thursday and Friday. When I saaw him after the show Saturday evening, he looked pale and still was not 100%.

Wow, the cast has been hit pretty hard with illness. I know Max wouldn't miss if he wasn't feeling pretty horrible. I bet his family's gone home now too. Andromyetta, you better hurry out there with that chicken soup! Can someone just clarify--was the person in the picture standing next to Laura, Matt-Max's understudy? I have never met him so didn't know for sure.
Yes, that was his understudy. I dont have the playbill in front of me, so I cant recall his name right now though (but if im not mistaken it was Matt). He did do a great job in place of Max, but it was a bummer Max wasnt feeling well.
Laura is fantastic to watch, and just another note, Jenny Powers (Rizzo) was also incredible.
Im not huge broadway fan, but I would love to see that show again! Ill be sure to follow both of thier careers and will be seeing them again for sure wherever they end up after this.
That is indeed Matthew in the picture. We met Saturday early evening in front of the theatre and he is very socialble. He remebered me from Thursady and told me that he was happy to be part of the happy ocassion.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that this is Jason's fiance Michelle who was just proposed to at the show. I started my own account here on the Grease forum so I can keep in touch will all of you who helped Jason plan this wonderful proposal.
We are thinking we might like to get married in fall of 09 to give us plenty of time to plan a perfect wedding. We also were thinking of doing the wedding out of state. Some ideas were maybe to get married in the mountains of TN or NC or in Chicago where Jason's family is from. We don't know yet though. We still have a lot of planning to do.
