Grese the Movie vs. Grease the Broadway
Permalink Closed

I just saw the movie Grease yesterday for the millionth time and I can honestly say that I like the broadway better. I never thought that I would say that but I found the broadway more refreshing. I love what they did with the songs. The broadway performers seemed more real and genuine to me and seemed to fit their characters better.

'Grease on Broadway' is the word!!

There were definitely differences, and I like them both. I love the movie - it was a classic & I have seen it 100 times. The broadway show was refreshing - I wish I could see that 100 times!

I would have liked to see Sandy at the dance like they had in the movie. That way, It would have showcased Laura's dancing.

From the dramaturgical standpoint, this revivial is, by far, one of the weakest productions of Grease ever staged, and that's not saying much.

Grease has never been a very strong show - you could drive a truck through all the holes in the plot. The movie actually created a cohesive story while keeping with the flavor of the original production. This revival takes the plot holes and expands them.

That said, I do enjoy the orchestrations very much.
