To Max & Laura's moms......
Permalink Closed

I have been reading this board from time to time, after being thrilled Max & Laura both won! They both were my picks from the very first show. I decided to join after I saw the play on Sunday, to say how absolutely wonderful it was. I enjoyed every single minute of it, and it seemed everyone in the audience did also. I just wanted to say you both have wonderful children & should be so very proud of them, as I know you are. I know I am only one person, but if you get the chance, please tell them I think it is fantastic that they are getting to follow their dream. I wish the best for both of them. Thanks!

Nuts, thanks for the nice note. It's always great to hear people enjoyed the show and share in our happiness for Max and Laura. This really was a profoundly amazing opportunity for them both and we all realize it. It's been almost a year since Laura went to audition in Los Angeles for the TV show. An unbelievable amount of things have happened in this last year for her. I know Max also auditioned in Los Angeles and ironically, he and Laura were only 7 people apart in line at the first audition. As people were quickly eliminated, they soon were right together and became best buddies right from the start. Who would have known then that they'd be on Broadway in a few months? It's been a marvelous year and as Laura's Mom, I'm definitely not over it yet!

Hello! I have to echo everything Nuts said: Max and Laura are exemplary people, they just deserve the world, and I am thrilled they are getting to live their dreams! What wonderful and talented actors they are, it was just a privilege to see the show last month and see them after when they were signing autographs. I would also like to add that it's such an honor to have Jane and Rachel on this board----I just eat up every word they write regarding Max and Laura and the show :) In closing, I would just like to say that Max and Laura were also my favorites from the get go on the tv show, and I couldn't be happier for them! That is VERY ironic that they audionted so closely together in LA. I believe everything happens for a reason, and they were meant to be together in this experience smile.gif Can I just end with this? I HAVE to see this show again, listening to the cd is making me antsy to go back!!!!!!! Hope you all are having a nice evening! Dana

I WILL be back to see it again. I think this time I will drag hubby along (honestly, I don't have to drag him, he is anxious to go). Luckily we live only 1 1/2 hrs away.
I hope Max or Laura don't have any planned days off in December. I think we are going to go to a Wed matinee.

Thanks, Laura's mom, for your response! My son is very active in his hs drama club - he has no dreams to make this his career, but he loves it, and I get such goosebumps watching him on stage, so I could only imagine what you feel!

Thank you for your kind words about the kids and for your excitement over seeing them perform. They are wonderful people and having met the rest of the cast, they are all great as well. Max and Laura just get the attention because of the TV show, but so many of the cast are there on stage for their first time and have parents as proud of them as we are of our kids.
Thank you again.

I would enjoy hearing from some of the other cast members' families. Everyone has a story - and I would love to hear more of them! Anyone care to post?

Thanks!

Watching Jose on stage is a thrill, unlike any I can name. He is an amazing person, not only as a performer, but he is kind, generous and compassionate. I am so happy to have him as part of my family.

My daughter is in the business as well, that is how they met. When she is on stage, it is hard for me to see anyone else there, I only have eyes for her.

The vicarious thrill of watching them, the feelings of love and pride are overwhelming. I am sure Max and Laura's moms will agree.

At the opening night party I got a chance to talk to Jenny Powers' mom the most of the other parents and she sure was a fun person. Of course, we all shared such pride and excitement for our kids--sometimes I think to the embarassment of our kids! Some of you are probably close to Max and Laura's age and can probably relate to how it feels rather awkward to have your parents "gushing all over you!" However, sharing excitement with other parents was GREAT for me personally to experience. All parents want their children to "succeed" and this whole opportunity for these kids is just all the stuff dreams are made of. And Max and Laura had the added experience of all the extended drama of the TV show which just was beyond bizarre and amazing. I am not too unlike Laura in new group settings. I'm not exactly shy but I'm quieter until I feel my way and get a feel for my surroundings and the people I'm around so I didn't venture out as much as I could have to talk to other parents too. Plus the music was so loud at that opening night party it made it hard to chat a lot. Anyway, I wish we would have another opportunity to meet as parents, since for so many of the kids in this show this is their Broadway debut and we all share the same parental excitement for them.

I have had the wonderful pleasure of visiting with your boy and he is truly a very kind young man. He is also incredibly talented on that stage and although every understudy is absolutely fantastic (I got to see Kevin and he was wonderful) Jose in the role of Sonny is a must see.
Not being in the know regarding the "Broadway scene", it is exciting for me to now know some actors that I can follow as they progress in thier field. I am excited to see what Jose and all the others are going to do.
I would go see anything that Jeb, Stephen or Suan are in. Love them all.

I can certainly understand how a parent can have eyes just for their kid in some cicumstances. I am sure everyone does. My daughter plays softball, she catches, nothing on that field matters... except her throwdowns to second lol

I had the pleasure of seeing Jose at the stage door a couple of times. As a total stranger I can tell you his "niceness" comes across even in those fleeting few seconds. My teen daughter has decided he is the best cutest guy in the play! I loved his Sonny, he was hysterical, especially the time he looked over his shoulder and ...don't want to spoil it!

FYI - Jeb Brown is featured on the original cast album of "Ring of Fire," the Johnny Cash musical which flopped a few seasons ago. It will be released on October 30. He also has a large part and a number of selections on the "High Fidelity" cast album, another flop.

Jose totally cracks me up! I saw the show one night when he did something so funny the whole cast paused and you could visibly see everyone was trying not to laugh. He grinned the most silly grin and the whole audience cracked up. It literally stopped the show for a few seconds until the person who had the next line could get his words out. What a comedian! He's one of my favorites to watch too!
