[Acting royalty turned out last week for a party thrown by Bernadette Peters and Glenn Close to toast John Travolta's star turn as Edna Turnblad in the film version of "Hairspray" - for which he just received a Golden Globe nomination.
One highlight was when Travolta met Max Crumm, the young actor starring in "Grease" in the role Travolta made famous in film.
According to a spy, Crumm "planted himself right next to Mama Turnblad and was there through the end of the night."
Quipped another guest: "Well, guess we know what John is doing later tonight."
Those Broadway people can be such bitches]

Finally!! I am so glad to hear that Max finally got to meet JT!!!! He is a really nice guy, I met him once at our gym at home (we actually live in the same town..). I have been hoping and waiting throughout this process to see when and where they would meet. Can't wait to see pics!! Anyone?
Max planted himself right next to JT.... What a beautiful way to pay homage.... Leave it to Max! However.... "Well, I guess we know what John is doing later tonight." Tell me that doesn't mean what I think it means.
That's so great that Max got to go and sit next to JT!!! He's always been a favorite of mine from Sat Night Fever and Grease. We also loved him in Hairspray and just watched it again yesterday with the whole family as the Christmas dinner was cooking. I wish I could've been a fly on the wall seeing JT and Max together. Hey, maybe they hit it off and they 'll end up doing a movie together. JT might like the musical movie thing now after Hairspray and we all know Max would be great on the big screen. As fans, we could only hope!
