Many shows have suffered major downturns this week so this is a small decrease in comparison. I wonder if the effect of the stock market and oil prices are showing up on Broadway?
Just to give everyone a little upper. Do NOT be sadden in any way that Grease is down 5.3%. The actual gross money is up $15k. The down 5.3% is attendence. But the revenue is up. Its a WIN-WIN for everybody.
Sorry Summerfan I wanted to reply to griz... I am sure that Jose Restrepo is one of the biggest reason why fan are coming back... he is so funny and he is a good actor... one of the biggest surprise when I saw the show because I did not know his actor credit... and Matthew Saldivar as Kenickie is really good...
Please griz if you want to bla bla bla about taylor you have a special section for that.... thank you very much for resepecting the one like me who does not like th...
And for people who doesn`t know... only one person can not make the show by it self... espacially Grease you have to have great chemistry between ALL THE CAST... to make a show successful...
youretheone, you might not want to say things like that, cause it makes us SP'ers look bad when we talk like Taylor is the reason that the tickets are selling. Remember that there's plenty of other stars in the show, that are on the stage for a whole lot longer than the 5 minutes that Taylor's there, so we shouldn't take anthing away from them.
And let me welcome you to the board. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here because it's a really friendly board. I sure do like being a a part of it.
Amazing that the 5 min part (and getting a solo in the curtain call) has generated so much loving affection for Mr. Hicks - so much so that they gave him a 80ft poster on the corner of Times Square and gave him sole credit for generating $150K more in revenue per week for the show. Even licking Clive's balls wouldn't generate that much income! Right? heh........
Griz.................Maybe its because its late at night, but let me be the first to tell you that I was offended by your remark. I would appreciate it if you would remove it before too many other people get the chance. Thank You.
Griz: Other than your crude remark about Clive, which is really inapppropriate here as this site is very PG, I would like to comment on your post:
Sure, having TH in the show is a draw. That is why they do stunt casting, which is putting someone in a show who is not a stage actor for name recognition. Well before any monies were generated by TH's stunt casting, the poster was planned to advertise his stint in the show. Many shows do stunt casting; Xanadu is having Whoopie Goldberg for the month of August, although Whoopie has been on Broadway more than once.
As far as credit for $150,000, one press person commented on that and I am not sure how accurate that is and it has been repeated since the press seems to repeat things without verification. For example, see the thread about Brittney Spears supposed stunt casting as Sandy. If it is true, wonderful, if not, it is the summer time and shows typically do better in the summer. The show has sold well throughout it's run, and hopefully, will continue to do so despite the critics reviews.
Giving him a solo makes sense if you think about the purpose of stunt casting. You feature the person you are promoting.
I am glad TH has so many fans that want to see the show. We applaud his efforts but let's not make it a TH against the rest of the world, since it isn't the case. The show was here before TH came and will be here after he has enjoyed his time.

You are adorable Nad, I had to laugh. Good shows have good casts and this show was a wonderful cast. But a lovely thought.

I don't have a problem with the fact that you don't like TH. And I'm sure that fans are buying tickets to Grease for all of the reasons that you have mentioned. However, I think the fact that you are totally unable to acknowledge the fact that TH is having a beneficial effect on Grease and its ticket sales is disrespectful to TH and his fan base. A Broadway show is a group effort, the relationships between all the actors is important to the success of the show, and whether you approve or not, TH is now a member of the cast of Grease. Perhaps you should be as respectful of his part in the show's renewed success as you expect us to be of the roles of the other actors. Its not necessary to like someone to be respectful of and acknowledge the part he is playing in the success of the show.

Nad -- I'm curious to know if you've seen Grease since Taylor joined the cast.

nope she hasn't, but if I could, I'd pick her up and bring her with me in august.
No, not really. And I hate to say negative things about shows and performers.
ok, you can stop. All I know is, 25 of us are travelling to the big apple to see Taylor, and Grease. we wouldn't have come, otherwise. But I'm glad I'm seeing the show, and I'm glad I've met the regulars on this board, so to speak.I mean I haven't met them in person, just here.

that would be great.DogsandBirds might meet us for a drink.
Oh that would be nice. Maybe I could get one of those Men in Black flashy things and wipe away their memory. Then I'll tell them to go live a different life.
