I like that idea but I was thinking of something along the lines of "season tickets" to Grease.

Well, what if we set up a direct feed from your TV to the theatre. With the push of a button you could see the show any time.

I did like it.  It was fun and I like Abba, so the music is great.  I love Pierce Brosnan, but his singing lacks a little.smile  Loved Christine Baranski in it...  Meryle Streep is amazing, no matter what she does.

Great news! I have a friend who travels back and forth to new york on business. He looked up buying Grease tickets and they were not available to be purchased, completely sold out, he was amazed.

Has there been any word about Grease "recouping" the original investment? It's got to be pretty close by now.

Have you heard this? From where? Usually it is widely publicized as most shows do not recoup. That doesn't mean it doesn't make money for the investors.

Could just be hearsay...not sure. Does anyone know what time Playbill posts last week's grosses? I just checked and they're not up yet.

Usually the nights that might not be full are Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Well, Grease is still doing fantastic! This week down 0.1% to 94.9%, but an actual increase in $$$ brought in. (Grease had the lowest percentage decrease of shows that went down, at 0.1%.)

Only six of Broadway shows increased in seats sold and it looks like two of those are new (or close to it.) Even Mama Mia only showed an increase of 0.2%, and some of the most popular shows took big hits - moving down to low and mid 80% range.

With the exception of Jersey Boys and Wicked, Grease had the highest ticket price. Even the low ticket prices were higher than average. I doubt that TPTB at the Brooks Atkinson are complaining with this week's figures! Great job!

In the Heights, South Pacific, Lion King, Little Mermaid all had higher ticket prices than Grease.

But Grease is doing great! Go Grease!

My goodness! The grosses are out, and not one show went up!!

They all took hits - even "Jersey Boys" - which I thought had never gone below 100%!

The hugest hits were Spamalot, Mary Poppins, and Grease! (Only about 55% capacity at Grease!)

The overall loss for all productions averaged out to over 30% (Sorry, I can't remember. I'm still in a state of shock!)

Is this normal for Labor Day Weekend? Does it stay like this until the holidays?

Sept - mid-Nov is always tough, and many shows close during this time period.

It's also tough from Jan - March.

I got this off of broadway world-Grease isn't it the only one who took a hit this week.

Broadway Grosses - Week Ending 9/7/2008

This is all quite normal for this time of year. Kids go back to school. No one is traveling! Not surprised at all by this. Same thing happened last year.
