Well, although it's only at 69.1%, that's up 13.6, so that's good news.

Grease
(Atkinson) $426,214 $372,538 $53,676 69.1% 55.5% 13.6%

Great to see that the grosses went back up this week. I had a feeling they would. ;) Nothing like adding a very Hot cast member, like Ace, and bringing back Stephen Buntrock as Teen Angel, to get them back up again.

I saw what you posted before you edited it, by the way. Ace's first week sales are lower than any week while Taylor was in the show.

LOL All I did was edit his name into the post. It wasn't that big of a change.

It's all because it's not summer, PH. The shows spike in summer and of course they drop during this time of the year. Haven't you read that grosses are down all over? I just thought it was good to see it come back up again, and I think the cast changes would have played a part in it. JMO

Nice try Jovi, but you're the only person in America that thinks Stephen Buntrock is any draw to Grease. LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!! Sales didn't spike until Taylor came aboard in June. Call me when Ace & Stephen get Grease over 90% of the seats filled again - just like it was ALL SUMMER when Taylor was there .... until then, I'll be ROTFLMAO. Heh! You're a delusional, lousy troll, I must say. Nighty night!

-- Edited by griz at 05:16, 2008-09-16

That's really rude to say that, Griz. You can't compare what happened in the summer to what's going on now. It makes a big difference what the time of the year is. People can't travel as much to NY for the shows now, as they could over the summer. And you know what? I think you're way over estimating Taylor's popularity and draw for the show. My question is, how can someone that only sells 3000 copies of their new CD, over the course of a month, be so popular that they're the reason that the show was over 90% sold? Do you ever think that the other cast members played a big part in that as well? My opinion is that they played a very big part in it. It's a popular Broadway Show, Griz, and not everyone was there specifically for Taylor Hicks. JMO

The truth is such a burden, isn't it? Actually, during the peak of the summer, attendence hit over 98% and Taylor Hicks (as reported by the NY Post) added $150K per week to the gross on the strength of his name - some weeks grossing over 800K! How about dem nuts? No wonder the producers wanted Taylor to *STAR* in the touring company. He is the main draw! I'm sure they offered him in the upper 6 figures, no doubt about it! He's the only one cast so far.... Say!! Maybe you want to try out to play Frenchie, jovi! Then YOU can rub Taylor's chest too! Wooop! LOL!

Never mind! Heh!

-- Edited by griz at 05:39, 2008-09-16

Unless the NY Post went around and asked everyone who they were at the show to see, then they have no accurate way to judge why the gross increased. They can speculate all they want, but the facts remain. Someone that is selling 100 copies a week of their newly released CD couldn't be as big a draw card as you are trying to make it sound. The other members of the cast played a big part in the revenues for the summer shows being so strong.

And about rubbing Taylor's chest, sorry, they couldn't pay me enough to do that. I'll stick to looking at Ace and enjoying the pics of him from the show. ;)

And about what he's been offered, unless you're his financial manager, you really have no idea. Again, you're just speculating.

Who cares? I say enjoy the people you like and stop spending so much time trying to put Taylor down and "speculate" about how terrible his life is. He's enjoying his enough that he doesn't have to spend all of his days trolling sites and trying to be an antogonist.

It was called having a discussion, and anyone reading the posts can see who was being the antogonist, and it sure wasn't me. Hope you have a wonderful night, Jewell.

Bingo! We have a winner! Perfectly stated, Jewell. What's so funny/pathetic, is that we've all read these ridiculous Jovi regurgitations so many times in so many different places, that we could have written this one ourselves. Not just a troll, but an old, boring, repetitive, predictable troll. The CD fans don't even want anything to do with you anymore. Except the 2 or 3 that still troll around with you. We really don't need you here, Jovi. We can write it ourselves.

Well I don't know anything about what you guys are all going on and on about, but I do know that all of the shows go up in the summer, and down again when school starts.

Very true. Fewer people are traveling right now.

I also want to point out that another reason why the grosses went up is because, while Taylor was in the show, the discount was only 20% off. One ticket still came to over $100 with taxes and fees. That's going to bring in more money as opposed to a $71 ticket.

People were coming to see Taylor. People were also coming to see it because it's Grease. Joe Public from Omaha who isn't a "theatre person" would probably choose Grease over something he may know nothing about such as Spring Awakening. People come for lots of different reasons and to say the spike was due to a single person is wrong and not fair to the rest of the cast and crew who work very hard.

And don't pick on Stephen Buntrock because he's not Taylor. He's a talented performer and a nice guy.

Taylor's gone and Ace is here now. Must the same arguements continue?

Well said Eris...EVERYONE needs to roll with the tide!

Anyone who knows anything about theatre, knows that this is a slow time of year across the board. Grosses have little to do with who is here now or who was here before. So get over it folks.

Now that is funny, Aragal. I happen to have plenty of friends in the Daughtry fanbase, and several of them are also fans of Ace, which is why they're here as well. They'll be attending Grease sometime in the next few months, yet you want to refer to all of us a "trolls" just because you don't agree with our opinion, and arent happy that we're here, but let me remind you that this isn't a Taylor Hicks board, and you can't bully others into leaving it because you don't like that we're here. If I have an opinion about the grosses, then I will state it, and if you disagree, then fine, but that doesn't change the fact that I have every right to have an opinion here, and to be here.

Eris, I agree with what you said, and that's all I was trying to say as well.

And you, griz, are hated and ridiculed by most Taylor fans. Why don't you give up and let this poster post here in peace? She's an Ace fan, and a Grease fan, and this is still not a Taylor Hicks board. Now go off on me, I'm sure you will. I don't even post much here anymore, and would have loved to talk about my trip to Grease this summer. Thanks for nothing.

At least I'm not going on Amazon and posting hateful, anger-filled, obsessively bitter reviews like you spend your time doing against Daughtry. You're griz, petertorklover, and probably a dozen other names across the internet where you spew your bitterness. I have better things to do, and you should be ashamed of yourself; other Taylor fans wish you would stop.

Too bad we can't post here in peace, no matter who our favorites are.

Peace!

When you two hate-filled vile trolls finally get some mental help, things will improve. You two have been at it since your lover Chris Daughtry, the tool, lost American Idol to Taylor Hicks 2 1/2 years ago. You are sick sick sick vile despicable little gnomes. You don't have anything better to do - don't lie - this IS your life - to spew hate.

You should visit my Taylor Hicks fansite tho - there's a great picture of your love, Chris Daughtry, I have hanging up over there! biggrin.gif

The only one spewing hate around here, is YOU, and the sad part is, you can't even see it. I'm glad you posted the link and said what you did, because the more you talk, the more you show people just who the problem around here really is. We are allowed our opinion, whether you like it or not. And btw, you need to stop living in the past, because Daughtry fans could care less that Chris didn't win on AI. This is 2008, and he is a rock star now, and things worked out, just the way we wanted them to, so just accept it, and stop using that as an excuse to attack us.

Also, you can keep thinking what you want about me not having any friends on the Daughtry boards, but that just shows how little you know.

Thank you Karen. The attacks by this poster are really uncalled for. I'm here to enjoy the board, just like the other Ace fans.

HM, I'll be looking forward to hearing your review, and to seeing all the Hot pics you get of Ace. ;)

One look into those eyes in your avi, Linny, and you'd think everybody would just chill out and have a great time posting here.   I can't wait till I can plan a trip to Grease while he's there.   It will have to be between Thanksgiving and Christmas -- and I don't want to go when he's taking some days off!

Please, on behalf of all the other Grease fans I am begging you to please take your hate elsewhere and not muddy up the board with all this name calling. And this goes for both sides - I'm not taking anyone's side in this. Learn to live together or learn to ignore each other. Please.

Last time there was bickering like this, the moderator shut the board down, and permanently kicked some of the people.

Peace folks! There is room enough for everyone!

And we're on our last strike. If there's any more fighting the board will be closed for good.

I'm not sure who you're referring to, when you say that "it's what some would call a victory", but I would not want the Grease fans to lose their board, and if you're implying that's what all of us that your friends are referring to as "trolls" want to happen, then you couldn't be more wrong. Several of my friends here have already made plans to see Grease, several have already been,  and we're also here because we're fans of Ace. No other reason.

Last time there was bickering like this, the moderator shut the board down, and permanently kicked some of the people.

Peace folks! There is room enough for everyone!

And we're on our last strike. If there's any more fighting the board will be closed for good.

and it's what some would call a victory.confused.gif
anyway, I'm happy Taylor's touring, and I'm happy for Ace and his fans.smile.gif
and I'm happy to have met my friends here. GO Grease.biggrin.gif

I'm not going to fight with you, jovi, and I'm not referring to everyone here. but you would love posting that on your blog. it's all I'm going to say about it.

You can think whatever you want, BBS, but that is not the case at all, and I don't appreciate you saying that. I'm here to enjoy the board, like everyone else, and I wasn't the one attacking anyone, but you can't seem to see,

or admit, that someone in your fanbase was at fault, and shouldn't have been name calling, or even bringing Chris into this.

I didn't think she was the one attacking either, but I'm sure that each fan base is going to defend their own.

Right now, let's please try to make it about the show and the current cast. Please?

Well said Eris...EVERYONE needs to roll with the tide!

Anyone who knows anything about theatre, knows that this is a slow time of year across the board. Grosses have little to do with who is here now or who was here before. So get over it folks.

Not to disagree but..........Last year, the last week of Aug. and the first week of Sept. was the only 2 weeks (except the last week of the year) that Grease filled the house completely. Over 100% seats filled. Any account for that????

That was probably due to the fact that it was one of the newer productions at the time. This revival production of Grease had only been on Broadway for about a month. Newer shows are always expected to do well when they first open.

Agreed. The previews opened up on July 24 and at this time it was only open for a month. But this time of year last year, the show increased, not dropped drastically in which it did this year. I think it makes a difference on who plays what character. The more famous the actor, the more tickets that will be sold.

The economy is much worse this year than last. Everything comes into play. Grease is up 13.9% this week over last. It was one of the better of all the shows on Broadway last week.biggrin.gif

Even though the economy is worse and its time to go back to school, I still think it matters "who is here now". I was disagreeing with Broadway Dude when he said "Grosses have little to dowith who is here now or who was here before.
I'm sure you would agree with me that if Mike Myers were playing a role in Grease, that the gross would go up and the seats filled would be close to 100%. Thats all I'm saying.

And of course I was gonna use Mike Myers as a name sometime!!! HaHaHa.........

Great to see that the grosses went back up this week. I had a feeling they would. ;) Nothing like adding a very Hot cast member, like Ace, and bringing back Stephen Buntrock as Teen Angel, to get them back up again.

Summer is tourist time and almost all shows do well in the summer. The spike has as much to to with the time of year as well as who is in it.  The numbers dip in the fall going up around Nov-Dec for the holidays.

Stephen Buntrock is a talented actor and the "draw" for Grease is partly just being Grease. He was there before Taylor came, and while Taylor did indeed have a draw, he was not the only reason the show did well this summer. I hope the show continues to do well now that Taylor has left and Ace is in it, but this is not a one man show, it is an ensemble show and we appreciate all the efforts of all the actors on stage.

Very well said, DogsandBirds. All the actors have played a part in making Grease successful, and it's unfair not to give them credit for it.

You truely have a gift for the sensible sayings.

I don't know any Taylor fans who can't stand Griz. I personally love her posts. As for you jovi I know SEVERAL Daughtry fans who have had enough of you & your crap.

LOL I'm sure your new found Daughtry friends would love to know you enjoy the posts of someone that goes around bashing Chris, posted a nasty review of Daughtry's new CD on amazon just days ago, and has a photochopped pic of him on a Taylor Hicks blog?? Now that sounds like someone that must make their fanbase very proud.

But incase you didn't see the prior posts, it's time to return to the topics and to stop the attacking, for the sake of the other Grease posters, so I would appreciate it if start keeping your thoughts about me to yourself. Thanks!

Just trying to get caught up. Have grosses gone up since Ace arrived? I wouldn't be surprised.
