i have seen this video before and read that it wasn't from the broadway production, but some typpe of awards / benefit performance. maybe that's why they have the hand held mics
I think Barry Bostwick is a hoot in this! In spite of the 1970's production values it has a great energy. I wish I could have seen the whole show. Was this pre-Rocky Horror?
Out of loyalty, I was prepared to hate it, but I couldn't....I loved it. It's in the style of my favorite song in the present show, "Mooning".
The clip is from a 1982 PBS Great Performances, and even 10 years after the opening, the two leads are so convincing and well matched, their actual age is irrelevant. From Bostwick's current work, I was shocked that he was ever so inventive, funny and charismatic.
This performance is in the style that I think is right for Grease.
