I hope Max doesn't mind me posting this, but it's what he had posted on his myspace.....

Oh Eight

yo everyone,

i hope all of your new years were glorious! i've had a great november-now. my months were filled with family and friends, it's been great seeing everyone. Grease is better than ever, and there are more understudy's on this week then there ever have been.vacations. i've only missed 3 shows since we started previews. one was because the PT told me i should rest my ankle, and the 2 other were because i was really sick last week. so laura and i have been trying our best to do every show and see as many fans as possible...it's so fulfilling but can get tough. im also very excited to move back to LA in august, i miss the beach! i'm really gonna miss new york, so the next six months im going to treasure it. thanks to everyone who sends me messages and comments. i'm doing my best to say hey to all of you guys! its actually part of my new years resolution haha

alright, be good to all

god bless

Peace

max

OK, then there's your answer about how long he's contracted.

What about the second year being contracted to NBC?
Maybe NBC gave them their freedom... or maybe Max will fulfill his obligation in a sitcom... or maybe he will just frolic on the beach.

He may be contracted with NBC, but that just means they have approval over everything he does. They could offer him pilots, or they could let him ride the waves.

Take, for example, Norbert Leo Butz. Butz won the Tony for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and, right after, got a sitcom deal with, I believe CBS. He filmed the pilot for this season - he played a paraplegic crazy republican. Didn't get on the air, obviously.

Harvey Fierstein had signed with the networks after his fame ressurgance in Hairspray. In one of the deals, the prospective pilot had him doing a sitcom where, like in Hairspray, he played the Mother. Didn't happen, and he just rode the wave.

I am sure that opportunities for Max will be revealed over time. He certainly seems happy and I can see why. It has been a beautiful, clear, warm (73 deg F), sunny day in southern CA, and there are many opportunities in L.A. in addition to theatre.

We are all wearing shorts and sleeveless tops and running to the movies (after we put our shoes on!) as the annual two-week Palm Springs International Film Festival is in full swing. Great place for star gazing! Many directors, producers and actors from all over the world are in town. This event is advertised as the precursor to the Oscars. Movies run from morning to late at night and the producers, directors and actors who star in the films are often present and then lead a critique and discussion afterwards as they banter with the audience. There are many seminars and workshops on all topics related to film, ie, screen writing, conducted by the best. This would be a nice mid-year vacation break for those of you who are interested and shivering in NYC, N. J., Minneapolis!

I just realized that this may mean the end of the Grease Board. I will miss keeping up with the cast and board members. Hopefully, Max will keep his website. biggrin.gif

I know we still have a good amount of time before Grease ends, but I also am saddened that this message board may also end. I wish we could find another board to invade, I love reading everyone's posts and updates from Max and Laura's moms. We should have a post-grease message board somewhere.

Grease may run on even if Max and Laura leave the show. They have many wonderful opportunities ahead of them.

For Max to post those words I would guess that it is more than the beaches that is calling him back to LA. For one it's home. But acting brought him there in the first place and he probably has various options, even without NBC at this point.

A part of me wishes Max would stay on broadway because that was part of the whole show - we voted for him to become a broadway star - and for him to do it and then just drop it to go back to L.A. kinda makes me sad because I know he would do awesome on broadway and TV is such a hard business - regardless I still wish him the best
Laura I know is going to do amazing on broadway.
Personally, I dont think either of them should leave Grease right away or at least not until they've got something else set up. What if they both leave the show and end up being stuck. I would hate to see them both disappear and end up being those kids that won that role on broadway.....

I messaged Laura's Mom months ago so I could plan my trip to NYC ;)

Me too... But really, his obligation to the tv show and the voters will be fulfilled after a year on Broadway. His life and future are his own.

I think he's making the right career choice, if that's what it is, as Broadway will be hit the hardest as the recession deepens. For my own selfish enjoyment, I want him to play leading roles in movies.

I think Max is more suited to the screen anyway. Not taking away from what he's done on Broadway but I think hes got that goofy quality movie audiences will eat up.
