I went to the show last night with a friend. I haven't seen the show since last September so I wondered if there would be any real changes in the way the show looked or sounded as the cast has done the show so many times since.
I was very pleased to see that the energy level of the cast is still excellent. Of course, the cast does feed on the energy from the audience and of course, I was there to hoot and holler and applaud loudly, which seems to inspire others to do so. The house was not completely filled but there were not too many empty seats in the orchestra. There was an understudy for Jan and she was very good at the part. They are a very talented group.
I love the opening number and it is always a thrill for me to see Jose on stage. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and my friend said she had trouble keeping in her seat and not getting up to dance!
Isn't it fun to see it over and over. One of my brothers has arranged a trip for us next week to take my little old mama along with my other brother and my sister. We are very excited. The time I was there in September Jose was injured and I saw the show 5 times in the time I was there and was happy that he came back toward the end of my stay and I got to see him once. Kevin did great in the role, but I missed seeing Jose.
I used to go to as many shows of Laura's performances as I possibly could. One year when she was Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz at the MInneapolis Children's Theatre, my theatre buddies pitched together and raised over $800.00 to give me for my birthday so I could go see the show many more times! They knew my love for the shows and of course the joy I get from watching my daughter. So, I can certainly relate to the above statements that you just get a thrill everytime seeing your family perform! And again, Jose is so funny in the show that he is extremely delightful to watch and Max is just such a perfect compliment to Laura and so great in his part too. I truly wish I could go more often. I won't be back again until April...can't wait!
I am going back in April with a group of friends. I have traveled all over the world to see first, my daughter Jessica, Jose's wife, in the shows she did. In fact, my first trip to Europe was to see Jessica in a show. . Then, I flew around to see Jessica and Jose in the shows they did together. I have tried not to miss any show either of them are in and if possible, to see it a multiple of times.
There was once a school of thought that said the desires of the parents are often visited on the children. I admit I was stage struck as a child and dreamed of doing Shakespeare or Ionesco, but that is not where my talent lies. But, those desires to not embue the talent or the drive to do the things that they do, whether it be in the theater or in any other field. When those talents are recognized, the thrill is more than words can express.
I do, however, try not to wear anything with buttons when I go to the show, so I don't pop all my buttons with pride and love!
Oh how I knew exactly the feeling from your words. My baby brother organized this whole trip and I was so surprised and so grateful. This is a huge trip for all of us and we cant be happier to all be together. My sisters son went to the premier with us to see Max before he left for 2 1/2 years to the Peace Corps in Micronesia and she is missing him so much. She ran the NY marathon in November and stayed with Max and got to see the show then. Max and Joseph and Janelle are all so close that seeing Max again will be good for her. My other brother (not the organizer of the trip) has overcome some incredible hurdles this year and we could not be more grateful to God for His faithfulness to our family. This trip is so special to me for so many reasons and the feeling of love and pride that you spoke of will be felt by all 5 of us at the show.
