Yikes! It's been 20 years since I went to see a show on Broadway. My parents made me dress in my "Sunday Best". I wanted to see if some of you Broadway Regulars, or recent visitors, could help me out with my attire question. We are going to be in major tourist-mode, and we are seeing Grease on Friday night. Sitting in awesome seats with 8 year-old and 11 year-old. I'm a slacks kind of gal, but have no problem tossing on a dress if need be. So, I'm wondering... what would be appropriate - nice black pants, or a dress???? Also, same for the little girls. Can they wear some of the cute leggings with the big tops, or should we pull out the Sunday dress???
Slacks are fine. People wear everything and anything, from minks to ripped jeans. I like to dress with what I call business dress but if I am in the city and grab some tickets, I have attended in sandals and shorts.
Be comfortable, if you are going to be out and about in the city before or after, casual shoes are fine. Enjoy!
i live an hour from the city and go there all the time to take dance classes and visit my friend at NYU. i'm at broadway at least once a month and nice jeans and up are appropriate. at jersey boys on sunday...there was a man and woman in formal attire talking to a family in jeans and polos. pretty much anything aside from sweat pants is acceptable.
your girls will look totally adorable in leggings and a top and you will be fine in black pants. this week has been really warm (it's 70 out right now) but be sure to check the weather before you pack.
have an awesome trip and be sure to tell us all of the details!
Thanks everyone for the tips! Weather so far is looking good. We are SO EXCITED!!!!
Had a little earthquake here couple of days ago, and we all decided that was "our sign" that it was time to take a little leave of the midwest for some NYC fun! Everyone has been great help!
