Unfortunately, this became another way for the BWW posters to knock Grease. Fortunately, the people who are buying the tickets don't take note of BWW's snide remarks.

Dogs and Birds, I am really SO sick of the Grease bashing over there; it's like they hated it from the get-go, even before the get-go. It is such a cute, feel good show (which I happen to love) that I hate seeing it get picked apart there!!! Very frustrating....they are a wonderful cast, both principles and ensamble and they deserve so much credit for that. I really want to see it again before Max and Laura leave! However, my Teen Angel won't be there---he was really one of the best parts of the show, I loved how Stephen Buntrock played it :) On the other hand, Jose Restrepo was AWESOME and it'd be fun to see him again too!! Anyway, I'm off subject now, but just wanted to respond to this post, thanks!
It's a sort of snobbery. Because Max and Laura were found through a reality show, they were just dying to pick it apart without even giving it a chance.
It is pretty amazing that so many people picked out Grease as one to be down on I wonder how many of these people have actually seen the show (my guess is not many).
Gotta admit though, my favorite comment was this one
Dear "Audiences" (note the quotes), Please stay away from Broadway. You're killing it.
That really does go to the heart of the snobbery.
The bottom line is . . . . . well . . . . the bottom line and no matter how bad the snobs think a show is, if it sells tickets, it will survive. Similarly, no matter how good the snobs think a show is, if no one buys tickets it will be short lived.
Kudos for the cast & crew of Grease for giving the audience what they want and therefore selling lots & lots of tickets.

Stephen Buntrock is a very talented man and I loved how he did Teen Angel too! It's a pity that Broadway felt so threatened by the reality show that they had to knock the show, but it has proven itself by this time and so I guess the critics don't know everything!
The cast is wonderful and they deserve the recognition.
I think Jose is awesome too but I am terribly prejudiced!
Photo Op on Broadway.com as Lindsay, Kirsten and three others of the ensemble pick up the award for Best Ensemble Cast. There is a group photo and then a couple of other ones of Kirsten and Lindsay with other winners. I'd post but the last time I tried to post one from Broadway.com, it created a problem.
