Hey Mr. E and everyone else knowledgeble about Broadway actors. How do they find time to attend other shows? I suppose when they're on vacation or there's a show that takes place outside of the the usual Broadway schedule. I imagine they don't get many chances to watch other shows while they themselves are on stage.
They attend them when and if they can. For example, Grease has Wednesday night off, so they could go on a Wednesday. Some shows are not dark on Monday when Grease has their day off and so on.
They really don't get much of a chance to see other shows as I am sure they would like and they don't get any discounts to shows either, not even the ones they are in.
Thanks DogsandBirds. Btw, your son in law is such a ham!! I wonder if they ever wish to watch their own show sitting in the audience, albeit with a replacement in their role. Do you know if the Grease cast is able to obtain a video recording of the show? What a nice keepsake that would make.

No video recording is available to them. He was out on an injury he occurred on stage some months back and he got a chance to see the show from the audience. I am sure he loved it although it must have been an out of body experience, seeing someone else do your track.
He plays the part so well that you might think that was his personality. Off stage, he is a very calm and quiet sort of person, very kind, loving and compassionate and a very wonderful man. I am so proud of him!

They also get invited to dress rehearsals which could be on an afternoon on a Thursday or Friday. Someone I know on Broadway got comp tickets for Young Frankenstein and Gypsy that way. New shows often invite their peers, sometimes only principle actors and sometimes the invitation extends to the whole cast. Such was the case for Young Frankenstein.
He plays (Sonny) Jose Restrepo... and you are right dogs&birds you should be proud of him not only he is good on stage... made me laugh all show but he is a nice man and don`t mind take picture with Grease Fans...
Each new show does what is known in our business as a gypsy runthrough. That performance usually takes palce just before the first preview, and is designed for people in the Broadway community to be able to attend - they are usually held on Monday evenings, which is the dark night for almost every other Broadway show.
