Unless the actor knows you personally, you can understand the need for privacy. Many Broadway actors have websites through which you can send email.
I am on first name basis with many actors, including Max and Laura, but I respect their need to leave it at the theater. When I want to talk to my friends on Broadway or appearing in other shows around New York, I send mail to them at the theater, or, if I am iin the city, I stop by the theater to see them.
Many actors are very friendly; Laura and Max's understudy Matthew even helped me pull off a surprise proposal for my chat board friend and member of this community, Jason, who proposed at the Brooks Atkinson stage door, with the willing particpation of Matthew and Laura.
Personal mail addressed to the person is your best route.

Although many actors/actresses may have MySpace, many of them do not respond to them. As Peter stated, please take note of their privacy. If you must contact them, going through the theatre will be your best option.
Unless you know someone in the cast or crew, there is no visiting backstage. Before the show, they are warming up, getting into their costumes. Not a time for visiting. During the 15 minute intermission, they are just getting a drink of water or whatever and there is no visiting then. After the show, they might give a quick tour (the backstage is very small) if they know you, but the cast and crew want to get out and go home or get something to eat.
