Grease goes to Shea Stadium with the Mets!
Permalink Closed

Monday, June 23, is Broadway night at Shea Stadium, home of the Mets. The cast (not sure who exactly or what songs) will be performing.

On Wednesday June 25, also at Shea Stadium, the T-Birds will be singing the National Anthem.

Lots to look forward to and even though I am a die-ard Yankee fan, I will be watching the Mets game, or at least those parts!

Cool! I guess even if it's not broadcast on tv, somebody will have it on youtube before the night's up. biggrin.gif

aww.gif Shucks, I'll miss it by a few days. Flying into LaGuardia on the 27th and staying in Queens (this trip around) near Shea Stadium. That is so cool though hope someone can give us a recap.

I hope it's on cable, so that I can watch it. However, they don't always have the entertainment on -- just the ballgame.

It looks like " Greased Lightening " and " We Go Together " will be the songs sung. Great exposure for the cast and the show !!!

Grease Cast Members to Perform as Part of "Broadway Night at Shea Stadium"
By: Dan Bacalzo · Jun 20, 2008 · New York

Cast members from the Broadway revival of Grease, including star Max Crumm, will perform at Shea Stadim as part of its "Broadway Night" on Monday, June 23.
The company will perform the songs "Greased Lightnin'" and "We Go Together." "Broadway Night at Shea Stadium" benefits Broadway Cares / Equity Fights Aids in association with the Broadway Show League. In addition, The T-Birds will appear at Shea Stadium again on Wednesday, June 25 to perform their rendition of the National Anthem.

This production of Grease, directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on August 19. It features the original book, music, and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, plus four songs that were written by others for the 1978 film version: "Sandy," "Hopelessly Devoted to You," "You're the One That I Want," and "Grease." The production received a Tony nomination for Best Revival of a Musical.

f Monday wasn't my first day of work I'd consider breaking my vow of never setting foot in Shea Stadium again. They're playing the Mariner's that day and they have a good team. Go Mariners!

Unlike the theater, this is a place where the taking of pictures and video would be appropriate. But who's going to have seats close enough!

I am sure you can get tickets to the Mets and they have a jumbotron so you really don't need the close tickets.
