Which is the best place to sit to see show?

For those who have been to see the show what do you think is the best place to sit to see the show?

I can get front row seats for the time we want to go but am wondering if I will miss most of the show as sitting to close.

Only broadway show i have been to was Wicked and we sat up the back and could see the whole stage.

If you get mezz seats, someone here said the first row is tight for your legs. I have middle mezz seats row b when I go.biggrin.gif

I sat first row smack in the middle. I did not like the seats at all. You had to cran your neck to see the actors. Not only a bit uncomfortable but the actors were so close to you that they were looking past you and over your head....your head is just about stage level in those seats. You missed at least half of Max singinging Sandy because of the angle of the car. You could not see the band which at that time was great to watch.
But other people did like the seats. I also went and sat in the fourth row which was row A. They were excellent seats.

I always heard that 5th row center is the best seats in the house. You are, supposedly, at eye level with the cast.

Front row mezz are very comfy and great view, not cramped at all. You see everything that is going on from any seat in the center mezz. I like mezz seats because in orchestra, if someone sits in front of you that has big hair or is a big person you have to try to see around them, while in the mezz, the seats are in elevated rows and even if someone in front of you is tall, you can see perfectly.

The seats in the theater are not eye level with the stage and therefore, you are not eye level with the cast. Even if you were, they can't see anyone except a few rows in the front because of the lights that are shining on stage and they aren't looking to break the 4th wall anyway.

Center orchestra is great no matter where you sit. The theater is small. Side orchestra is fine as long as you are not too far towards the wall and even the ones by the wall are fine, although you might miss some small bits that actors do when they are not the center of the action.

Back mezz makes the actors seem small but not tiny and you see everything going on.

I think there are no bad seats in the theater, although I agree with greatwhiteway about having to cran your neck to see in the front row and possibly missing somethings at times. Some people love the front row because you are so close to the actors.

I have sat in the center of orchestra, about the 8 row, on the aisle orchestra stage right, in the back of orchestra towards the wall, stage left and in the front row of the mezz.

Thanks for everyones replies.

I just gone and booked tickets for the front mezzaine for the 21st December. So excited have always wanted to see Grease on broadway.

Would be even better if I got to see Max and Laura but sadly it is after their contract finishes.

My Husband and I both loved watching the show.

Roll on December !!

i see you already decided what to get, but i thought i'd chime in with my opinions anyway :)

i sat in the very first row one time too, and i agree with what the other person said. you can't see some things because you're kind of lower than everyone else, especially the car scene. i didn't really realize it till i went a second time and saw it from a better view. but it was pretty cool to have everyone dancing right in front of you. i could see all little details of everyone so it was cool.

the second time i went i had standing seats, and it was a great view despite having to stand. and it was a great price, but i believe they only sell those the day of.

I went this past weekend - Friday had Row G center orch and you could see everything. Sat night had front Mess, Row B center and also could see everything. Agree that wherever you sit it will be fine.

The first time I went I sat in row D of the Mezzanine and I saw everything. The second time I sat on the aisle of row A on the front and missed nothing. Third time I sat Row A on the left but this time closer to the wall and I did miss some stuff. When I go on the 20th I have the Mezz for the afternoon show and Row J center orchestra for the evening show. Then on July 22 I have Row K center orchestra.
