This is another artist I discovered because of Taylor in a round about way. This video was posted by a SP member on the Boogie one day. It's one I saved to my favorites.
Me too Dogs and Birds. As a matter of fact I just saw Percy Sledge at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame concert this winter. Clarence Carter performed there too. They both still have it. What a show! Some of the performers I did not remember their names but I remembered their music. Tommy Shaw of Styx performed also and I was wowed by him. I would never have attended that concert if it was not for Taylor.

Ywehc you need to talk to my friend Lilligold about Tommy Shaw. She's been a groupie for him since she was in middle school. She'd love to hear all about it and that you loved him.

We can't leave out these guys. I LOVE Sam's voice.
Little Memphis Blues Orchestra
Second Best
LiMBO is a great band, I've seen them several times. They're also very nice and down to earth.
That's a great video Taydaze! I only got to see LMBO one time and I really thought they were good. I hope to see them again someday and hopefully they'll be playing with Taylor.

Besides releasing so many albums and scoring the music for many films, such as Paris, Texas, Ry Cooder has worked with so many famous people as a studio musician including the Rolling Stones, John Lee Hooker and Mavis Staples.
I find his music fascinating because its a mixture of blues, folk, rock and such.

I'm on my way out to work, but you have me intrigued about Ry Cooder, I'll have to check out the video Jewell posted when I get home. I'd never heard of him either!

Marc has a new EP out. He's starting to get some traction nationally. He had similar problems with promotion for his first album that Taylor had. He is with a new label and has an EP out.
Another new artist I discovered thanks to Taylor was James Morrison.
Welcome Steph glad you finally made it here! See you have brought us a gift from someone else who has it down perfectly, thank you
Thanks! It took a while to get here but I've been enjoying the forums. What is sad is that Marc is from my neck of the woods and I never heard of him until the week that Taylor had to choose which song to sing from the last I think it was 5 years or something like that. That was the week he chose Trouble by Ray LaMontagne. Anyway someone shared the video on Gray Charles and I was blown away by his voice. He was only 21 in the Home video.

This is one of my favorite songs, too. Every time I hear it, I think of the sad state of radio these days. McMusic has taken over the airwaves, leaving no room for great songs like this one.

I never got to finish my thought on this the other night. Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis were on the Tonight Show a couple of nights ago promoting their new album that they did together. It's all about the blues. If what I heard on the show was any indication, this will be a GREAT album. I love these guys separately. Together.....WHOA!
I guess I can say Taylor led me to this, because I was looking for a clip of one of his Tonight Show appearances when I found it.
WOW What a great video by marc b I love his voice so much soul and you can tell he feels the music. That is what I love about Taylor when he sings he feels what he sings.
Welcome to the boards, Stephk817. I ain't never heard that song "Home" before.
An artist Taylor helped me discover was Fats Domino. Anyone ever heard of him?
Fats Domino was one of the earliest pioneers of Rock and Rolls. His song, Blue Berryhill, is a classic as is Ain't that a Shame. He has influenced everyone from Elvis to James Brown, to the Beatles and on and on.
He has been honored by The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and listed by Rolling Stone Magazine in the top 100 artists of the 20th century. He has a lifetime achievement award from the Grammys.
Listen to him sing here:

He is still living in New Orleans, although he lost everything in the hurricane. He is 80 years old.

Thanks for the clip, D&B. That's such a great song. I wasn't aware that Fats Domino had lost everything to Katrina. How sad.....

I am well aware of Fats Domino. In fact I found this video with some of the greats jamming together.
Taylor helped me get back to my love of Louisiana musicians since he loves New Orleans. His song My Friend has a little bit of a dixieland jazz flavor to it.
I will go and find some Funky Meters, Ivan Neville and Dumpstaphunk, George Porter, Jr, Robert Randolph and the Family Band.
Welcome steph! Thanks for the videos. I LOVE Marc Broussard. And I totally love this song, like ALOT! His voice is incredible. I totally agree about Home, it's definitely a song that should have been heard by the masses. The guy is an awesome talent.
I loved the video of Fats Domino, Ray Charles, and all the greats jamming together too .I had never seen that particular video before. Really, really cool.

He was caught in Katrina. His home Blueberry Hill is located in the Lower Ninth Ward and he was sleeping when the storm hit. The water was up to his roof and for several days they thought he may have drowned but he was finally rescued along with his wife. They were both brought to the Super Dome before making it to Baton Rouge. He's tough and still kicking.
Summer Fun wrote "I sure am glad I found some more fans of Fats Domino. I just feel like giving you all a hug. For all of you non-SP'ers, we do this all the time on our fans boards. We just love giving out hugs to everyone, so here's one for my (((fellow Fats Domino Fans)))"
Are you an official spokesperson for Taylor Hicks' fan boards? I belong to a few, and none of them "love giving out hugs to everyone all the time." Which boards are you referring to? I wouldn't want the "non-Sp'ers" as you refer to them, to get the impression that Taylor's fans are gushing sycophants.

I've never seen hugs all the time for everyone either azure ! It's all about fans respecting other fans on the boards I've been on .Many genuine friendships have been formed because of the respect and love for music. That's my story and I'm sticking to it LOL !
You all should also listen to Taj Mahal. Great blues singer and has worked with so many famous people. I love his version of Mockingbird with Etta James.
I discovered them after learning about the jamband scene. I have Taylor to thank for that. He's also joined up with Widespread Panic a couple times to play harp.

The Taj Mahal Trio appeared at the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam in Asheville a couple of years ago. Taylor was there, too, along with scores of other great artists. I'm looking forward to getting the dvd.
