Last night I went to see Billy Joel, Last Play at Shea. The stadium was packed as there were over He played for four hours without a break and had Tony Bennett, John Mellencamp, John Mayer and Don Hanley as guests, who each did a number with him. Billy is the most amazing pianist and his voice still sounds as good as it did when he was in his twenties.
His final number in every concert (last night the crowd was so demanding he did a number after it) was Piano Man and he plays the harmonica and I thought of you guys and TH.
An amazing concert!
That is amazing that he performed for four hours, especially since he's not a young chicken anymore. Plus you got to see the other, John Mayer -- another favorite of mine. Thanks for your report.

I'm so glad you had a good time! What a guest lineup and for four hours, amazing.
If you need some get up and get your funk on then Robert Randolph and the Family Band is just the ticket. The album Colorblind is excellent. It's another underpromoted gem of a record that should have been heard by more people. Taylor introduced us to Robert Randolph when he joined them for a song or two.
Shamelessly bumping this just because I think it's a bad azzzzz video. Robert Randolph is loaded down with charisma and stage presence. He's an A #1 chair dancer, that's for sure.
Ain't nothing wrong with that

I want to run through the halls of the high school I want to scream at the top of my lungs I just found out there's no such thing as the "real world" Just a lie you've got to rise above
He has a rep as a big playboy, but the boy is DEEP! Love me some John Mayer.
And I think he is responsible for writing this generation's protest song....
John Mayer
Waiting On The World To Change
I have always loved John Mayer! I have all his CD's. You're right he is very deep, and has a unique, wonderful voice. Like Taylor, I could listen to him sing for hours. DogsandBirds, thanks for the story about the Billy Joel concert. He's one of my all time favorites too. I've never seen him, but I would love to. Piano Man is a GREAT song!
Jon Mayer who I also like very much, played lead guitar for one of Billy's songs and played the most amazing guitar riffs, He didn't sing, which I would have liked.
I have been to quite a few concerts and I can tell you his are amongst the best if not the best, If you ever get the opportunity, go see Billy, He always has reasonably priced tickets (he expressly wants it that way) and his shows are the most energetic and musical evenings you can have.

Sounds like an awesome time D & B. I love Tony Bennett & most of the singers from his era. I also LOVE Harry Connick Jr. who, to me, sounds like a throwback from that era.
I knew he was around here BBS. Is he playing Cleveland too? Hubby would say NO I'm drawing the line at John Mayer since I already dragged him to see Taylor & am dragging him to see Bo in August. Hubby has NO TASTE in music.

I love Harry, too. He so reminds me of Sinatra.

I LOVE John Mayer and would love to see Billy Joel in concert some day. I've been a Billy fan for as long as I can remember
Here's a group I was introduced to last night listening to Jump, Jive, and Jazz on Little Buddy Radio, I'd never heard of them (should I be embarrassed about that? lol) They're great!

My brother was at Antone's in Austin last week and discovered this guy. He told me to look him up since his style is similar to Taylor. His name is James Hunter and he's a British soulman. He's really good, thought I'd share.

Ray LaMontagne is going to do a concert in Raleigh on October 16!!! I missed him when he was in Chapel Hill last year....or was it the year before I cannot miss this, though I hate the maze of one way streets and the Beltline in Raleigh.
Ray's new album.... Gossip In The Grain comes out 2 days before that, on Oct 14. I just pre-ordered. I am already in love with the song Let It Be Me. This song makes anything/everything I've heard on radio lately sound like the discordant babel that I already thought it was!
I discovered this young lady, Sophie B. Hawkins, through a Taylor fan site. Sounds like she has her head together, and really knows what she wants. It's all about the music......Where have I heard that before??? I do believe our Mr. Hicks might just be on the right track.

I agree, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
Aragall, thanks for the Sophie B. "Trouble" Hawkins video link. She is a great person and has her head together. I've been a fan of her music since the mid 90's. Wishing the best for Taylor always! :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Mama. I just love this interview. Sophie is the kind of artist I really have respect for. She seems to be in this business, first and foremost, for the love of the music.
Thanks for the good Taylor wishes!!

I'll always be grateful to Steph for posting this video. This song kicks major bootie! I love Robert Randolph, and I haven't listened to this one for a long time.
Everybody on the dance floor!
