I had to do "three finger salute" on my browser. It melted.

Wow I forgot how tall Ashley is! She looks the same height as Derek in those heels.

Are we liking her hair? I think it's very reminiscent of Olivia Newton John.

WOW!!!!! Thanks so much for posting the link to the video on the photo shoot. I loved it-- Derek and Ashley are so beautiful together...I am so excited to get to see the show ... just two more weeks. The posts are really helping, I tried to watch Derek's video from his website, but I guess it was too much for my PC.

Definitely an error on their part - Brooks Atkinson is Grease's theater.

As I mentioned earlier I had to do "three finger salute" because my browser started acting wonky.  I just got it working properly again.

I blame Derek.  He overheated my computer so much I had to restart it and let it take a rest.  biggrin

btw...didn't the last revival play at the Eugene O'Neill?  I'll have to check that out.

Edit:  The last revival opened on May 11, 1994 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre.

We just got back from our NYC trip and guess who we saw walking down W50th right towards us????....Derek.
I have to say Eris, that I immediately thought of you. smile.gif He looked like he was just out enjoying the city, not in any big hurry.

My husband asked me why I didn't say anything but to be honest, it happened so fast that I couldn't spit anything out. I was trying to tell him and my kids who Derek was and by that time he was too far away.

We also saw Max, Laura, Jose and Cody. They all seemed in a hurry. Max was running into a diner, Laura I almost bumped right into coming out the stage door one morning when I did a bagel run. Jose and Cody I saw crossing Broadway among the mass of people.

It was so much fun to see the show and meet the cast at the stage door. We had a great time.

Review? How did the family like the show?

That is the beauty of living in the city. I, on the otherhand, can never figure out who is an everyday person vs. celebrity. Walking through NYC, my husband will point out someone walking the streets and I have no idea who it is. I think if you take the person out of their "known" element then I am helpless. But I know I could pick out Max! Now getting the words out to speak to him, that's another story.

It's funny how, in a city as big as NYC, you can still randomly run into people. It happened to me a few times. Once, after a performance of Hairspray I ran into John Llyod Young of Jersey Boys. I'd never met him before but he's friends with my brother so I stopped to say hi. Back in May Martha Plimpton passed me and my sister as we were walking down 8th Avenue. I've run into several of the "Greasers" but never Derek. Sad, huh? cry.gifbiggrin.gif

If I had been with you I'd have said "hi", Liz, but then again I'm not some random stranger. biggrin.gif

D&B, sorry for the delay in responding about "my review", I've been trying to get unpacked etc. Also it's going to be hard to sum it all up but I'll try to keep it short.

Of course we LOVED the show! My youngest and I ended up going to the matinee when Allie filled in for Laura. Since I missed Laura I really wanted to go again. My husband and oldest wanted the chance to see it also so we went again, yeah! We waited in line at the TKTS booth for 45 min only to be told that they didn't have any seats together (a word of caution for those with larger parties). My husband suggested we just head for the theatre box office and try there. The person that waited on us was so helpful and we ended up getting a box seat for a great deal so we were thrilled! Both times we went it looked close to being sold out, which was good. Another word of caution for Ladies... get to the restroom quickly at the end of the first act. The line is LONG and we missed the first two songs of the second act the first time.

To start Jose is great! He was so funny on stage. The second time, since we sat close, we got to see his face more and watch him and Max joking with each other here and there. It was fun. He was also very sweet at the stage door. My daughter thought he was Max and he overheard me explaining that he wasn't Danny. He just smiled and said "That's ok, it's confusing". He seems like a very nice, down to earth person. You must be so proud of him!

As for the ladies, Laura was wonderful. Of course I'm partial because I voted for her but to me she is Sandy. She and Max also have such a great chemistry that it was fun to watch. I didn't feel the same chemistry between Max and Allie. Not sure shy. We also loved Robyn and Kirsten. However, my little one was disappointed that she wasn't able to see Frenchy either times at the stage door.

Taylor was ok the first time I saw him but I believe he had only been there a week. The second time I thought he did great! He seemed more comfortable and he and Kirsten had a good chemistry on stage. Both times he was very nice and had a lot of energy at the stage door. My husband bought a harmonica keychain at the Grease gift shop and asked Taylor to sign it. It was so small that it made him laugh and he managed to sign it and then blew into it. It was funny. There was also a local news channel there that night filming him and he put the harmonica up to the camera. I think it was channel 9 news but we never were able to see if it ever got aired.

Last but not least, Max. He was brilliant! My husband even commented on how well he thought he did. He's in practically the entire show, singing and dancing. He was comfortable, funny and very much Danny Zuko. We were so happy to see how far he's come in the last year since we voted for him.

I have to say that the TV show GYTOTIW and the Broadway show has been a fun experience for our family. It feels like we started the process with these talented young adults and now got to see the final product. It's been great. I can't imagine the feelings that Max, Laura and the cast are going through this week as it makes me tear up as I write this. The entire cast seems like great people and they gave a wonderful performance.

On a personal note, NY was such a great experience for my girls. The oldest is the reason we were in NY as she attended a 3 wk theatre camp in the Catskills. It's her dream to be like these young actors one day and to see the full process was great for her. We were also fortunate enough to see Wicked, excellent show! Every few minutes I'd glance over at my girls and the look of joy and excitement on their faces as they watched the shows was priceless. Thank you to the cast for a wonderful show and a life long family memory that we'll always cherish.

....Sorry, guess it's not that short. That's why I don't post often....I talk too much!

I have heard a lot about that camp recently, if it's the one I am thinking of!  Entertainment Tonight did a piece about how Mandy Moore and Natalie Portman got their starts there!  I hope that your daughter enjoyed the experience!  smile.gif

Yes, that's the one. In fact ET was there taping while she was there. They were also auditioning kids for Fame. Quite a few got callbacks. There are some very talented kids there! She had a wonderful experience and we had fun watching her perform.

I am a bit confused - where were they doing Fame?

On the segment on "Entertainment Tonight," it showed them looking for kids to star in "Fame." If I remember correctly, they are redoing the movie. :)
