A group of opera experts were discussing auditioning unknown singers....one of the men said that he knows by the way a singer walks on stage if s/he will be any good. masterclasslady knows her stuff and writes about it eloquently.
The depth of feeling and respect that Taylor and the Soul Patrol have for each other touches me deeply. It's gratifying to know that such a relationship has persisted through thick and thin. No matter how self-contained Taylor may be as an artist, I'm sure it has meant the world to him to know that he is understood and appreciated by so many discerning fans.
I think Taylor knows we love him, and will continue to support him through thick and thin.
Now I do believe I have some videos to catch up on
*plops on headphones*

This is intended to be a thread for discussion of anything Taylor. Let me start by posting my all time favorite youtube video from the concert in Millersville which I was lucky enough to attend. He was on fire that night and I loved his version of The Right Place, esp duo with Brian Gallager on the sax and Taylor on the harmonica.
Wow, I'd never seen that one before, thanks Jewell!! I LOVED the dueling sax and harmonica
I wonder if Taylor will have his same tour band next time around, I hope so, I really think those guys are awesome

For all those interested, there are three videos of TH at this website and since one of them is illegal, please don't post the video here. But for those of you who love TH, you will love this page.
You are absolutely right, LOVE that page, thanks so much D&B!!

Beautifully said Ray ! When Taylor auditioned my husband and I looked at each other and said at the same time. Here is this years winner. His voice stopped me in my tracks.
azure....Thanks for bringing MCL piece over,I hadn't read it in a while, she was absolutely dead on in what she said.

I'm just now reading Ray's post and I agree with Judy, "beautifully said" and thanks.
I also agree with the commonalities that a majority of the Soul Patrol seem to have in hearing Taylor's audition and being stopped dead in the tracks with mouth gaping. The same thing happened in my household with my hubby and myself. Then the phone rang and it was my sister with the same excitement in her voice, "did you see that gray haired guy on AI?" The excitement was a first for our households, having never truly watched AI and certainly never voted.
That audition by that young, soulful, southern gentleman has brought music back into my life. The teacher's lounge at my school was electric, and it was the music teacher that was leading the way. I remember her statement well, "This guy feels the music and it comes from his soul!"
It's wonderful following his journey, and I know the journey will be never ending. That brings me great joy and hopes that a change is gona come, thanks to Taylor Hicks.
I had never watched AI until I caught the tail end of Season 4. And I MISSED seeing Taylor audition, just happened to be flipping channels one night and came upon the show and thought I'd watch it for a bit. Taylor immediately caught my eye of course; he looked so different from all the others! And when he PERFORMED.....man!!!!!
The first time he said "Soul Patrol" I thought he said "Snow Patrol" and it was because of his grey hair That was long before I came on the message boards

anyway, I am still happy for Taylor and his success. I am looking forward to meeting my sp friends, and possibly a few new friends from these boards.
Me too BBS, I can't wait to share in the glow of Taylor's NYC with the group that we have assembled. It's going to be magic!!

I asked politely in another thread -- what will Taylor be touring when Grease is over? BBS420 said the tour will start after Grease. When and where, and is the schedule published yet?
So, Taylor is going on a tour after Grease, but it's a secret tour. Nobody knows where it starts or where it goes, or when it starts and when it ends, and nobody knows even what music he will be singing? OK. LOL I'm going on tour after Grease too.

I started with the above clip...and you know how one clip leads to another... The Millersville gig is amazing. Taylor certainly knows how to put a band together, and I bet they love the freedom he gives them. I went through other clips, including a couple of National Anthems, and wound up with the perfected Grease 6/10 performance. I feel like I've been on a Taylor Odyssey...a worthwhile trip!
Ray, hubby and I went to Millersville, we had an amazing time. I am blessed with a mate who sees eye to eye with me on so many things, including Taylor.
My youngest son is the navy, stationed in Norfolk, Va.. I travelled there June 2007, and took him to see Taylor. My avi was taken by the bus after the show. My grunge loving son said it was one of the most amazing concerts he'd ever been to.
Taylor's myspace page is completely changed, with the whole screen of my monitor of him in Grease and the upcoming schedule.:
I know!! Doesn't it look awesome! What a STAR he is! He's so hot - bod wise and career wise! Can't wait to see what's around the bend for him after Grease!
Ya know? He could stay a bit longer with Grease...he is quite a sensation. If he digs it and also enjoys his nice apartment right in the middle of time square...gee...who would want to leave? I don't think Taylor is concerned with Time at all. He is just going with the flow.

I think you're right. He's got a lot going on and a lot of different options. I think he's just enjoying the ride and trying a lot of different things. I bet he loves living there...he sure has come a long way in the last couple of years. He must be in heaven.

This performance of The Right Place was at the Hartford Marriott at a morning breakfast to just a selected few lucky people.
This is one of my favorite versions of The Right Place. Just Taylor and his voice = perfection. How lucky were those people who were there ! I hope to someday be fortunate enough to see Taylor in an intimate venue.
The Millersville videos are also amazing, his performance was hot,hot hot ! Thanks for posting them.
