There are so many superb videos of this song out there, but the original version from Taylor's CD will always be my favorite. I think that this song needs to be released....just as it is here. I wouldn't change a thing.

I don't know why The Right Place was never released as a single. Many people voted to have that one released, but the one TPTB wanted won out.

I don't know how many of you are members of, or read, the Boogie Board, but shirlanne went to see "Grease" the other night and wrote a two-part detailed recap. I thought I'd bring this over for those of you who don't get to read the BB recaps. Taylor is well known for his affinity with children and his charity work, however it's still heart warming to hear about any of his encounters with kids. The following is Shirlanne's account (Part 2 LOL) of the stage door greeting on the 19th.

"We hurried to the stage door to get our program signed, we were there in a flash, he was out two minutes later, I think he was in a hurry. There was a special little girl in a wheelchair beside me with her Mom and Dad. She looked up at me and said "I love Taylor Hicks" and I told her I did also. She smiled so big. Her Mom told me that she had seen him on AI and that she went to an AI concert and didn't get to meet him and was crushed.

Taylor came down the line and when he got to us, we just yelled "War Eagle!" He looked up, smiled and gave us a victory`sign, signed our play thingy and then he saw the little girl. He went down on his knee and called her sweetheart and asked her name (then asked how to spell it.) She was overcome, so he told her her parents to just wait a minute. He went over to sign on the other side and his bodyguard came over and took the family backstage. Taylor went back inside and stayed a few minutes, came back out waved, then jumped in his car and left.

The little girl and her family came out, and she was grinning from ear to ear. She had a beautiful 8 by l0 photo of him with a message on it. We all cheered and her day had been made. Just a special story that made a special night even more so. We sang all the way back to the hotel - as I said it was just a perfect night."

Personally, I'm very grateful that Taylor continues to inspire his fans. He makes it easy for us to show our unwavering support for such a genuinely decent person. Taylor Hicks. Yeah, he's one of the "good guys!" Soul Patrol!

I'm so glad you brought this over, Azure. I think that's the secret to Taylor. Take away the singing, the dancing, the fun, the good looks, and you still have a young man with a lot of character and a heart of gold. I think that's why a lot of us put up with the insanity. heart.gif

In case anyone missed the news...............

Taylor's Early Works CD was scheduled to be released on August 19th. Instead, it will be released one week earlier, biggrin.gif on August 12th.
Amazon has already pre-sold all of their initial order, but they'll be getting more soon.

We'll just wait and see! It is coming and no matter when it does we'll get it

Amazon has Taylor's TH CD for $49.95 - The Import Edition!

We'll just have to wait and see...I think the wording from Amazon was not clear. I really don't think they meant that the EW CD wasn't going to be released at all. I just think that for whatever reason, Amazon is not selling it. I just ordered 2 more from Barnes & Noble and everything went thru and says it's #6 on the Best-Seller list.

Be patient people!!!!

Whatever the "problem" is, it appears that it's only with Amazon. All of the other stores are still selling it, and a poster at the Boogie says it has moved up from #8 to #6 on the B&N Top Seller List.

Taylor's "people" told Gypsee yesterday that there's a big announcement coming at the end of the week, maybe we should just sit tight and wait to see what they have to say.

(I'm anxious enough preparing for my NY trip this weekend. Can't handle any more! LOL!)

I was at the show today. I was sort of prepared not to really like TH in his role as Teen Angel, but I DID!
He was funny and hammed it up with Frenchie and did a great job. The audience loved him and I must admit I did too.

I went backstage after the show and walked directly into him. He was very charming. He has a great smile and was so friendly. I even got his autograph on my program du jour.

Although I am not ready to be a full fledged SP member, I admit to really liking TH!

D&B - Thanks for your posting your feelings about Taylor's performance, and it means more because you're not one of the SP. If you ever get a chance to see him in concert, you will be amazed at what an awesome performance he gives for his audience.smile.gif

Dogs and Birds -

I won't repeat your post again!! It's obvious that we can never read or hear that you liked Taylor too many times, but I'll give it a rest! LOL! But I do have to honestly say that I value your opinion, and if you hadn't been even a touch "taylorized" - I would have accepted your verdict!

However, the fact that you really liked him as Teen Angel, combined with your comment that he's charming and has a great smile, has me grinning and doing the "happy SP dance!" (I assume that you're going to spread the word to your theater friends and family!!)

Our next mission, soul patrollers, is to get D&B to one of Taylor's shows when he tours again!

D&B....I'm so glad that you got to see Grease and appreciated and enjoyed Taylor. I'm just a "little" envious that you ran in to him backstage and got your program signed. If you decide to take the next step and go to a Taylor concert, I guarantee that you will enjoy yourself. We'll surround you with lots of SP love and even gift you with one of our "blinky" red guitar pins. biggrin.gif

When TH was on AI, I thought it was a great season with many talented people. I liked Taylor and was glad he won. I am sure I would enjoy a TH concert.

My reservations about TH in Grease is that he isn't an actor and sometimes, when stunt casting is done, the results are less than wonderful for people who aren't great fans of that person. He did a very credible job and since he only has to sing and ham it up, he was well cast in this part.

I've been up cleaning since 6:00 am. Time for a Taylor break! biggrin.gif I'm dedicating this one to D&B, in honor of her first live Taylor experience. It's from last year's concert at the BEACON, and I think it's my favorite concert song, Compared To What.
