Well, I know that this will make Laura fans cringe, but to me, Ashley is exactly what "Sandy" should look like! But Ashley has so much more than just the look! She's got the whole package--the singing, dancing, and acting too! To me, she was always the obvious choice! :)

Better put your "body armour" on Kristen....lol
Yes, she was the obvious choice for a lot of people! After all, she was the other finalist!

I was, and still am, a Laura fan and I'm not cringing-are you disappointed? I thought Laura was perfect for the part and obviously more people agreed with me than you. LOL I'm really happy for Ashley, but really wish that her fans weren't so nasty.

I don't see why people feel they have to put someone down to boost someone else up. Makes no sense.
Yes, I was disappointed when Laura won, I won't lie. I'm sure that she is a perfectly nice person and I'm sure that her fans enjoyed her as "Sandy." I didn't go see the show with her in it--it wouldn't have seemed right to me. And I say to me--I know that Laura had supportive fans too who enjoyed her in the show. I was lucky because I could go and see Ashley in 'Hairspray," and she was wonderful in it. And I can't even express how happy I am that I will now have the chance to see Ashley in "Grease!"

You, and thousands of others are happy that Ashley now had the role of Sandy!
Dogsandbirds did you watch the TV show GYTOTIW? Just curious. Things got kind of ugly on those boards on a regular basis. Some of this is overflow I think.
Yes, I watched the entire series. I was on that board as well. My hope that this board doesn't get ugly. Laura was fabulous as Sandy. As we all know the original Sandy on Broadway was a burnette. I enjoyed Ashley in her performance as well. Why does anyone have to snipe at Laura in order to enjoy Ashley? This to me is incomprehensible. They are not in competition now.
I personally have the utmost respect for Laura and have never made an unkind remark about her, I wish her well but she is moving on and done with Grease. Regardless of how Ashley got there, she is now Sandy.

I haven't seen anyone swipe at Laura. She was a wonderful Sandy. It is now time for Ashley and Derek to play the roles.
Just because someone prefers Ashley over Laura, or vice versa, doesn't make them nasty.

I really don't mean to be mean to Laura. But of course if you are rooting for someone, you are disappointed when he/she doesn't win! I'm sure that like pinkfan says, Laura has a great future ahead of her! But I think that Ashley's fan should be able to express their happiness now without it being taken as a critique of Laura. :)

Perfect explanation Kristen! Please read it everyone. It is now Ashley's turn to play Sandy, and her fans have to right to be excited about it!
Yes, they do. However there is no need to be nasty to another poster because she preferred Laura. I'm not speaking to all of the Ashley fans here, but a mere few that I have seen make some very snide remarks to Laurafan.
And you also have no right to imply that she needs to go elsewhere - she has every right to be on this board.
This board is a good place to attempt to keep tabs on all fourteen "Greasers" who made it to the live shows. I'm sure there will be posts about what Max, Laura, and everyone else have coming up next that their fans will want to know about.

I just don't understand why she would want to now that Laura is no longer in the show.
I agree with Pinkfan. Why would someone be on here if there favorites are no longer with the show? I, for one, wouldn't be interested anymore.
Also, we will continue to post information about Laura and Max and any of the other contestants of YTOTIW or cast members of the Broadway show in their future endeavors. This has been happening all along. We wish all of them the best.

Yes, and there is already a thread for that. Can't wait to see what they are all up to.

So now we have a reason why fans of Laura, Max, or anyone else not currently appearing in Grease on Broadway would want to read and post.
I joined the board last year even though my "favorite" was not starring on Broadway. I joined because I liked all of the contestants and many of the people I had "met" on the NBC boards.
I, for one, welcome fans of all of the contestants to post and read the board. And perhaps, over time, they will become fans of our current Danny and Sandy. I could always use more "subjects".

There was nothing nasty about Kristen's comments. She's just stating how she feels about Ashley and has every right to do so. I feel the same way she does. So get over it.

Thanks, Brite Eyes! No, I didn't mean to be nasty and am sorry if someone took it that way, And my goal wasn't to make Laura's fans cringe. I was just stating my thoughts about Ashley, and I was predicting the argument that some Laura fans could possibly make against my point. Therefore, I was sort of warning some of the Laura fans that they might not like the statement that I was about to make. I meant no offense to Laura. I was just explaining the reasons why I liked Ashley from the beginning!

You weren't nasty at all Kristen. You have nothing to apologize for. You were right to predict an argument. Some people just love controversy! And, you were commenting about Laura fans...not Laura! We all know what a wonderful talent Laura is! You'd had to be crazy not to know how talented Laura is.
I mean after all, LauraFan1 always comes on and tell people what she thinks! She has even commented that "no one could ever be as good as Max and Laura." She's allowed to feel that way and state her opinion, and so are you! So don't let anyone on here tell you how to respond! If it's OK for one...it's OK for all!
Kristen....you have every right to your opinion. It makes no sense for the Laura fans to be out of sorts. They need to remember, it's over for Laura. She had her shining time. All the Ashley-Derek fans want is to share and enjoy with them their moment in the sun. I don't believe that's too hard to understand.
Before the entire thread gets blowned out of sight. Yes, Kristen, you have every right to post your opinion. Along with everyone else. Its a forum, thats what its meant for. However, a word to the wise............be very careful on how you post. Its very hard to be able to put your thoughts down on paper and have the reader read what your intent is. I can see where the misunderstanding started. In your original post, you made it sound as if Ashley was better then Laura. I'm sure that wasn't your intent, but could have been read this way. I understand that Ashley is a very talented individual and I wish her all the best. As for Laura, I wish her all the same. Thanks for listening and TAKE CARE!!!!!!!! MIKE

I disagree! I didn't feel that you made it sound that way at all. I guess it's everyone's interpretation of things.
In which is another concept of a forum....disagreeing. One more thing that you have the right to do. As I stated earlier, its very hard to have your thoughts read with the proper intent. You read it one way and I read it another. This is where the disagreement starts. Perfectly normal for a forum.
Change is a hard thing for many to accept. With this we should all consider one thing remember the old and accept the new. This can be a challenging facet in life, but it does make things go more smoothly. Ultimately let's all never hold any grudges. This is a fun place.

Thanks Hello.
Yes, Disagreement! There is no way that everyone is going to interpret things the same way! Everyone processes thoughts and ideas differently. We all have to remember that, and not get so touchy about things I guess. Me included. Thanks for your post!
