I was just wondering how the people on these boards felt about that. I for one don't care what they say if I am interested in the story.

I can honestly say that I have never made a choice based on what the critics have said ! I would have missed some of the most amazing plays, movies and concerts had I listened to them.If I think it's something that may interest me I'll go see it .

I guess you are right Judy. I don't know how these boards work concerning who is saying what but a lot of people had a lot to say which is good. I think every one talking it up on this sight are real fans of the show but mostly because of the TV show that kicked it off I think. It is obvious that the show is doing well, I guess I was just looking to have it get more recognition by the powers to be.

In regards to what many had to say about the critics coming back, I have to agree, I did have a small chat with Seth Rudetsky and he agrees with what many of you said here. If you remember he had many good things to say about the TV show and was especially high on Derek and Ashley.

I remember that!  He loved Ashley on the TV show and was always making positive comments about her!   smile.gif

Seth also said the show is doing well, so what difference does it make what the critics think.

That's great to hear that "Grease" is doing so well!  smile.gif  What a great choice they made in bringing Ashley and Derek into the show!

I wonder if Seth has been to see the show since Ashley and Derek took over the roles.

Seth said no, not yet, but he wants to go see it. He said they have a tremendous amount of talent and who cares what the critics say, the show is doing well financially.

I was replying to Kristen and Birds and Dogs I don't know why my replies end up as seperate posts when I have cliked on the reply button

Exactly, IMHO the opinion of one person doesn't make or break a show ! At least to my knowledge it hasn't . smile.gif

So glad that you're going to the show tomorrow. I'm looking forward to your review, since Eris seems to be the onyly other one on these boards who's seen the show before Ashely and Derek joined Rydell High.

I'll be the brunette in the red top and black capris or a black skirt. I haven't decided yet.

I don't know if you guys are planning on meeting up before the show or anything but I'm coming straight from work and won't be arriving at the theatre until around 7:30pm. But I'm sure I'll see you after since I'm BBS's speaking coach. wink.gif

Eris I will also looking forward to meeting you. I am one of the twenty-five coming to the show Friday. I  met BBS last summer and she is a sweetheart and a lot of fun.

I tried to access the Grease webpage, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right, so I am going to share my NY experience and if you would post it I would really appreciate it. I also am going to attach the pictures we got and hope you enjoy them. The one that is priceless to me is Ashley's face when she saw me waiting to see her. I said I could do the Master Card commercial:

Flight to New York $249.00
Hotel in New York $500.00
Tickets for the Play $260.00
Ashley's Face when she saw me Priceless

My husband and I recently saw Ashley Spencer in Grease on Broadway. She was fantastic. She was "Sandy", her singing and acting were phenomenal! I can't image anyone else playing the role. The entire cast was sensational and it was a truly entertaining performance.

I have a history with Ashley. She graduated from the high school where I work as a guidance secretary and she was my student office assistant for 2 years. Working in the office I knew she would go far. She was always singing and dancing around the office and kept me thoroughly entertained. My husband became a fan when he heard her sing the National Athem at a basketball game. I find it so ironic that she is playing "Sandy" in Grease, because I remember one day after seeing "Grease II" on TV with Michelle Pfeiffer playing the roll of Sandy, telling Ashley how much she reminded me of Michelle Pfeiffer and how I could see Ashley being Sandy........and now look at her starring as Sandy on Broadway.

Well, if anyone ever deserved being a Broadway Star it is Ashley. She worked hard and has made it! Not only that, but she remembers her friends from back home and has made everyone that has seen her feel special and proud to say they know her.

Good luck Ashley, and remember we all love you!

Nice review!

Michelle Pfieffer's character wasn't Sandy though. She was a totally different character.

Pinkfan, thanks for sharing this story! I'm sure that it means so much to Ashley when she sees familiar faces after the show! I'm so glad that Bonnie enjoyed seeing Ashley as "Sandy!" What a great experience it must have been for both of them! smile.gif

Besides, Adrian Zmed (who played Johnny) was a replacement for Danny in the original Broadway run or Grease and the 1994 revival.

That's so nice!  I can only imagine how meaningful it is to have your friends and family there watching you as you live your dream!  What a wonderful and supportive hometown Ashley has!  And you realize again just how special Ashley is to have all of those special people in her life!  smile.gif
